Main St HAIZLIP FUNERAL HOME 206 Fourth St. 882-4134 High Point, N.C. HiSV. F. L. ANDRjikVS Fiiisr BAPnsr cdJiiCH HIGH POliJr, N.C. The Duties Of Youth In This Space Age “In the begmning God created the heavens and the earth.” Genesis 1: L “Then Jonathan and David laae a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul.” I Samuel 18:3. Here is the begiiining of a classic friendship. The very word embodies a miracle which Judaism and Christianity in particular appreciated. Purely materialistic interpretations of life can be refuted in many ways, but surely the fact of human friendship is one powerful element in any spiritual comprehension of experience. Some people argue about the time it took. Christians find it easy to say with John, “All things were made through Him, and without , Him was not anything made that was made”. (John 1:3). We realize now that God has a lot more projects going on than the simple creation of our world. He was working on all the galaxies! Saul - Father of Jonathan (Jonathan was son of King). Jesse - Father of David (David was son of Farmer). As Youth, we should: I. Hold high the idea that God’s Grace is sufficient. My Grace is sufficient for thee.” n. Witness for Christ. Genuine worship witnesses for Christ. A conversation on a Pullman car was shockingly irreverent and about gambling. A little fyiow in pajamas, timidly kneehng at his berth, prayed with childish voice, “Now 1 lay me down to sleep”. Profanity ceased. Gambling conversation died into silence. Eyes of hardened men became moist. One rough man said, “I would like to know what that Uttle fellow has that I have lost”. People are ashamed to say a blessing over a sandwich in public. We must witness wherever we are. III. Give yourself unto praver. “Just a little talk with Jesus Makes it right.” IV. Be willing to work. What is work? “I am the foundation of all prosperity. Everything that is of value springs up from me. I am the sole support of the poor. The rich, who think they can do without me, lead futile lives. “I have made this nation, I have built her railroads, created her skyscrapers. “I am the friend of every worthy youth. If he makes my acquaintance while he is young, and keeps me at his side, I can do more for him than the richest parent. I am the parent of genius itself. Who am I? My name is work!” One of Ripley’s cartoons pictured a plain bar of iron worth $5.00. This same bar of iron, when made into horse-shoes, is worth $10.50. If made into needles, it is worth $3,285, and if turned into balance springs for watches, it becomes worth $250,000. The same is true of another kind of material - you. Believe it or not!
