Proceeds from this event a
total of $1,053.00 was given to
the Indebtedness Rally now in
| progress at Bethel Church.
A tea followed, consisting of
dainty sandwiches made of
chicken salad, and cheese, cake
squares, punch, nuts and mints.
The first place winner was
presented a $25.00 Savings Bond
and a 14K gold- necklace. All
contestants received prizes.
Mrs. Catherine Lamar is Fresdent
of Stewardess Board No.
1, and Mrs. Willie Mae Pope is
President of Stewardess Board
No. 2.

CELEBRATED
The 5th of July birthday party
was given to Michelle Annette
Erwin, who is now four years
old, from New Haven, Conn.
The party was given by her
Grandmother, Mrs. Christine
Martin of 819 Reid St. The party
was served by Mrs. Helena Erwin.
The guest were served
punch, potato chips, ice cream
and cake. The cake was baked
by Mrs. Lydia G. Erwin. Miss
Michelle Annette Erwin had
fourteen friends at the party.

today.
According to Dr. Bell, the list

The Basketball Tournament
Committee is the arm of the
CIAA charged with the overall
planning and operation of the
basketball tournament. This
committee's work has earned the
three day session the distinction
as the most successful indoor
sports extravaganza sponsored
by blacks anywhere in this nation.
The tourney pits the top four
Southern Division teams of the
CIAA against the top four Northern
Division teams.
