Nile Nile, Oct.. 28.—Mrs. Jennie Douglass and small daughter, of South Pork, were week-end guests of hex brother, Crockett Poe. Mr. and Mrs. Press Maines vis ited Lester Andrews, of Turkey Knob, Sunday. Misses Dora and Louise Miller, of Winston-Salem, were guests of Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Woodruff Saturday, "Uncle” Floyd Edwards, who has been very ill, is improving some. W. E. Billings and Reece Bill ings made a business trip to Wilkesboro last week. Mrs. A. A. Osborne last week-end. Whitehead Whitehead, Oct. 28.—This com munity was deeply saddened last Thursday by the sudden death of Mrs T. A. Edwards. The funeral service, was held at Union Church Saturday by Elders Williams, Caudill, Walker and Kilby, in the presence of a large number of sorrowing friends. Rosa Rector visited Aunt Lu cinda Edwards last week-end. Uncle Daniel Whitehead, who has been visiting his son. Emory, in Independence, Missouri, has re turned home. Wrench, formerly owner and editor of the Alleghany Star, died Saturday night, October 19, in Dalton, Ga., and was buried Monday, October 21. Mr. Wrench, had been living in Dalton since he left Sparta some 19 years ago. He first came to Sparta when his parents moved here from Brunswick, Ga. During their stay in Sparta his mother died and was buried at Glade Valley. Then Joe returned to Georgia where he married Miss Margaret Reid and settled in Dalton. Edwards, age 78, died suddenly at her home in Airbellows community on Thurs day, October 24, following a year’s illness. The funeral services were held at Union church in Whitehead, conducted by Elders S. G. Caudill, Coy Walker, J. M. Williams and Charles Kilby. Mrs. Edwards was laid to rest in the Union Church cemetery. Pallbearers were her grandsons, and flower girls were largely her granddaughters. She is survived by her husband and four daughters, Mrs. Ina Joines of Joines, N. C., Mrs. Myra Joines, Mrs. Eula Truitt of Sparta and Mrs. Nannie Joines of Stratford, and two brothers, Asa Caudill of Whitehead and Arza Caudill of Galax. One sister also survives, Mrs. John Richardson of Strat ford. The State forest tree nursery on the Clayton State Forest in Johnston county raised its annual production capacity from a half million seedlings to ten million with the aid of C C C workers.
