Art Students Exhibit Work ' tThe art exhibit Ot Mrs. H. L. Campbell's classes given Tues day in the Woman'* Club, " was one of the outstanding features of the week. Free hand water p&lnting, cra yon painting, charcoal and the sketches in pen and Ink were most remarkable for first year students. The creative ability shown in the carnivals, Indian heads, etc., leads us to beMeve we have real artists in the ma king. Mrs. Campbell has three class es one, 7-9 years of age, one 10 12 years and those over 12. The work in each Class was very out standing and each one deserves a special mention. Mrs. Kincaid Fetes Open Gate Club The Open Gate Garden Club met Wednesday afternoon with Mrs. Arnold Kincaid, 14 mem bers were present. A profusion of jweet peas with other cut blossoms were used in pleasing arrangements. During the business it was vo ted to become a member of the Federation. Several projects and plans for raising money were discussed. Mrs. C. E. Cash was welcomed as a new member. There was not a program as the menfberg wanted to attend the "Melody of Spring" given by the Kings Mountain Garden Club. A dessert course was served with nuts. Miss Summers Gives Recital Miss Frances Summers, sopra no of Charlotte and Kings Moun tain, was the guest artist at the meeting of the Llncolnton Music Club Friday night in Lincoln ton at the home of Mrs. Hunter Mauney, Miss Summers, who was ac* companied by Miss Virginia Summers, studied voice at Salem and later at the University of Texas. She also has been coached by Oscar Fox, composer, of San Antonio, Texas. Hostesses at the club meeting were Mrs. Jack Ramseur, Mrs| Dan Boyd, Mrs. C. 8. Newton and Mrs. Robert McLean. Teachers Hold Final Meeting Teachers from all white schools in the Kings Mountain unit met Tuesday afterhoon in the high school cafeteria. The superintendent discussed problems involved in closing the school year. H% stressed the im portance of making reviews and final examinations contribute to further education rather than merely finding out what had al ready been learned. In discussing promotions, ? he suggested that physical, social and emotional factors, as well as chronological, mental and achl. element factors be considered. On Monday guests were invited for three ta bles of bridge. Bowls of yellow roses and ros es and larkspur were used to create a festive air lor the oc casion. Tables were appointed for refreshments. Little nosegays were on each table and a salad course with accessories was served before the progressions. High score and the floating prize went to Mrs. Fred Plonk. Mrs. H. C.
