Softball Loop Off With Five Teams; Tillman Pearson Is Commissioner The Mens Softball league of the Kings Mountain Amateur Softball Association closed en tries at five teams this week as four of the teams swung into ac tion Monday afternoon. At a meeting last Friday night, the league directors were told that the Merchants and Mar. gTace teams would not be aboard. The schedule had al ready been drawn and Commis sioner Tillman Pearson, who was , elected at the meeting, started play with four teams. Margrace officials asked this ? week to be counted in and an other card was drawn, giving Margrace a -bye last Monday and counting the two games already yisyed. In the openers, Burlington downed Craftspun 8 to 5 behind the "three-hit hurling of Roy . Pearson and Bonnie defeated the Legion entry (box score was not f ? turned In). Pearson gave up hits to, Bud Ross, Junior Hartsoe and Olland Pearson and paced tjie winners with 2 for 3. Junior Bennett had *2 for 4 for Burlington. Walter McCabe, speeding 65 miles-per-hour, $10 and costs. Dorothy Moore, assault with deadly weapon and simple as sault, sentenced to seven months in jail and ordered to pay $25 for benefit of plaintiff and costs of court. Acie Mace, assault on a fe male, nolle prosse. Howard Logan Mitcham, as sault with a deadly weapon, $25 and costs. Billy Martin Bowen, no driver's license, $25 and costs. * Theodore Ralph Barnett, driv ing. drunk, $100 end costs and loss of license. James Lane, possession, for feited $25 bond. Harold Dean Smith, no driver's license, $25 and costs. Frances Adams, of Shelby, dri ving drunk and no driver's li cense, $100 and costs and ordered not to operate vehicle for one year. ? K. R.
