OBABOUrOHe W??K First Disabled Korean Veteran Rehabilitated The first disabled JCorean vet eran has completed his rehabili tation under a vocational train ing program for men disabled in active service since June 27, 1950, the beginning of the Korean fighting, Veterans Administra tion said. He is Nguey F. Wong, a young Chinese - American veteran from San Francisco, who was blinded in battle in Korea. He has com pleted an intensive two months of on-the-job training as mana ger of a good-sized cigar and re freshment stand in the California city. According to the last nation wide report of the Veterans Ad ministration, '29 veterans were receiving vocational training un der the program for persons dis abled in active military service since June 27, 1950. Of these, 19 were taking some form of school training, 8 were in on-the-job training and two v/etk receiving farm training. Wong during <hls short period of training has learned to con duct his entire business by sense of touch; to make change cor rectly from the feel of the Coins; to place his merchandise so he could reach it all easily; to keep Inventory; to place orders for items, and to <56 his own book keeping in Braille. He also received a course in salesmanship and merchandising geared to the blind. He learned how to set up effective displays, and was taugnt to deal with peo ple in a personal way, though unable to see them. ' His Instructors were officials of the California Bureau of Vo cational .Rehabilitation, who worked closely with V-A in car rying out the training program. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 2 o'clock at Bynums Chapel A. M. E. Zions Church. Doekerya Funeral Home has charge of arrangements. William Briggs was seriously injured Sunday night when struck by a car at the over head gridge intersection. Mr. Bridgs suffered a broken leg and head injuries, he was taken to the Shelby Hospital.
