MRS. ROBERT LEON THOMPSON Patterson-Thompson Vows Said Saturday In Forrpal Ceremony At ARP Church Simplicity and beauty charac terized the decorations of Boyce Memorial ARP church Saturday evening, June 26, at 7:30 o'clock, when Miss Iris Willirrrt Patterson, of Kings Mountain, became the bride of Robert Leon Thompson, of Enka. ; Vows were exchanged against a background bf stately paims, ferns, and smaller palms, inter spersed with four wrought-lron candelabrum holding seven light ed white tapers arranged in pyra mid fashion- Potted green and white caladiums further carried out the green and white color note, and a large arrangement of white gladioli, garza chrysan themums, and calla lilies complet ed the altar decorations. The ceremony was performed by Dr. W. In Pressly, pastor of the bride, vising the double-ring ritual for this couple. v Mrs. Fuller McGill, organist, presented' a prelude of organ mu sic. Organ selections included "Sheep May Safely Graze" by "\ Bach, "Romance" by Sibelius, "Meditation from Thias" by Mas W senet, "Ave Marie" by Schubert, "My Heart at Thy Sweet Voice" by Saint Saens, and "Libes traum" by Litz. Mrs. McGUl play ed "Evening Star" by Wagner ao , vows were pledged. The "Bridal Chorus" from "Lo hengrin", by Wagner, was usted for the processional, and Mendel ssohn's wedding march from "A Midsummer Night* s Dream" was used for the recessional. Mrs. John Elliott of Chester, S. C., a cousin of the groom, was so loist, and, vocal selections includ ed, "Entreat Me Not to Leave Thee", "I Love Thee", and as a benediction after the exchange of vows, "The Lord's Prayer", by Malotte. The bride, whp was given in marriage by hter father, wore a wedding gown of white imported lace over bridal satin. The neck line of the fitted bodice was out lined with lace in a scalloped de sign, and thte long sleeves wten pointed over the hands. The bouf fant skirt was outlined with a deep band of pleated nylon tulle, and her veil, of fingertip length, was attached to a Juliet cap of matching lade. She carried a white prayer book, topped with 1 a white orchid and showered with satin streamers and baby's brea th. . * < Mrs. John A. Cheshiie, sister of the bride, served as rriatron-of- J S honor, and bridesmaids were Miss Billie Falls, of Kings Mountain, Miss Patty Sparkman of Mulber ry, Florida, Miss Carol Byrd, of Charlotte, a niece of the bride, and Mrs. W. Jay Home ol Green wood, S. C., sister of the groom. Attendants were dressed in ac qua tulle gowns fashioned with a wide pointed bodice of match ing satin with bustlte effect in the back. Each attendant carried a cascade arrangement of orange delight roses with huckleberry foliage. ? Joe M. Black, of Greenville, S. C-, was best man, and usher groomsmen were Floyd Elliott, of Chtester, S. C? a cousin of the gr^ym, John Cheshire, of Kings Mountain, brother-in-law of the bride, W, J. Home, of Greenwood, S. C., broihor-in-law of the groom, and- Johnny Byrd, of Charlotte, nephew of the bride. Mrs. Patterson, mother of the bride, wore a.drtess of lace and tulle in stardust blue. At her shou lder she wore a purple orchid. Mrs. Thompson, mother of the groom, wore a gown -of lace and chiffon ol Romance rose. Her c.crsage was a purple orchid. Reception After the deremony, a reception was held at the home of the bride's parents on Gold street. .The bride's table was overlaid with a Sardinian lace cloth, com bining filet insertions with nfeedle polnt lace and an embroidered border and center. A five-branch ed silver candelbrum was used at one end of the cloth, and an arrangement of white gladiolus, feverfew, baby's breath, and gar za chrysanthemums was set at the other end of the table. A five branched silver candelabrum and a silver service was used on the buffet, and -all-white flower ar rangements were used In other receiving rooms of the home. Punch was served from a glass top table on the side porch. The table was decorated in garlands of smllax with an arrangement of daisies placed in the center of the table underneath the glass. Gifts were displayed In the den. Receiving at the reception werte Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Patterson, Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Blanton, Dr. and Mrs. W. L. Pressly, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Crosby, Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Serving in the dining room were Miss Jeanne Ware, of Ruth erfordton, Miss Shirley Sellers, Miss Joyce Blser, and Mrs. R. P. Anthony, the latter of Gaatonia. Willie Harris, charge dwith vio lation of the prohibition law stat ed that the liquor found in, his possession by Officers P. A. Haw kins and R. R. Carrigan was giv en to him by another "feller" and he was on his way to the. "fel ler's" house with the liquov when he was" arrested. On examination by Judge Jack beth Anthony were at the regis ter, which was placed on the side porch. For her wedding trip, the bride chose a suit of naVy with blue and white accessories. At her shoulder she wore, the orchid. tak en from her bridal bouquet. After a trip to Florida, the cou ple will make their home in Enka, ! The bride, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ira Grady Patterson, was graduated /rom Erskine col lege this year magna cum laude with the degree of bachelor of I arts in chemistry and mathema tics. She was a member ofGarnet Circle and the honorary scholar ship society. The groom is the son of Mrs. Robert Leon Thompson of Ches ter, S. C., and the late Mr. Thomp son. He is a graduate of Erskine college, and has done graduate work at the University of South Carolina. Out-of-town guests at the wed ding included Mr. and Mrs. R. P. Negroi Judge White found Harris not guilty on the original charge, but guilty of illegal possession of li quor for beverage purposes, and ordered 1he court to issue a war rant for. Roberts on information and belief that Roberts is guilty of transporting intoxicating non tax paid liquor. Harris was also ordetfed by the court to appear against , Roberts as prosecuting witness. The ease was continued until next Monday. Prayer for judgment was con tinued for a period of one .year for Grover C. Keller on condition that the defendant properly sup port and maintain his three chil dren ages 10, 11, and 13. Keller was charged with non-support, j Prayer for judgment for one month was also continued for Alexander , Gordon, Negro, of route 1, charged with second of fense of driving while drunk, i Judgment was continued in order that the defendant might have an! opportunity to acquire monies for fines. . Woodrow Wilson McClure, Ne Kio. of route 3. Gastonia, appeal ed to Superior court a six-months suspended road sentence after Judge White found the' defendant | guilty of driving drunk. j The defendant stated that John ny McClure, Kip ffs Mountain Ne gro, was the driver of the vehj [cle, hut arresting Officer Laymon Corn we 11 testified he saw thede fendanl park the car. Desk Sgt. Tom Gladden also stated that the defendant was in no condition to drive a vehicle. McClure's sen tience was suspended pn condition that he be of good behavior for six months, pay a fine of $100, .costs of court, and that his driv- j er's license be revoked for a pe- j riod of one year, Robert Dawkins. Negro, of 402 W. Ridge street, was found guilty of assault on a female, and receiv ed a four months road sentence, suspended on condition that the defendant be of good behavior for j six months, pay a fine of $5, and costs of court. . The case of Tommy Tucker, charged with driving while drunk was transferred to Shelby for a trial by jury at the request of the defendant. One case -was continued, that of Stokes Gladden, of 27 Guntt street, charged with issuing a worthless check. Bertha Jordan, Negress, was found guilty of larceny of wear ing apparel, Friday morning Hi City Recorder's court, and receiv ed a 30 day jail sentence. Sentence was suspended on ?payment of costs of court, and on condition that the defendant not bother or wear any clothing of prosecuting witness, Eloise Patterson, Ne gress.
