Slight Accident At Grover Friday No charges were preferred a gainst persons involved in a two car collision which occurred Fri day afternoon In Grover, accord ing to State Highway Patrolman C. D. Fortune. The accident, -Patrolman For tune said, occurred when a 1953 Packard operated by R. D. Moss, of Graver, cut the speed. of his vehicle, and was struck from the rear by a Sears Roebuck owned trailer - tractor operated by Jul lin V. Hayes, of Shelby. Both ve hicles were traveling east. MATTHEW'S Lutheran Church News The worship service at 11:00 a. m. will be broadcast again this Sunday over Radio Station WKMT. Dr. Gerberding wUl preach, ?r.ti the Adult and Carol choirs will render the special mu sic. The sermon topic is "The Church ? It's Oneness". The Ca rol choir anthem ? "Blessed Je sus" by Slater; and the Adult choir anthem ? "O Be Joyful in the Lord" by Tours. Organ music will include "Trumpet Voluntary" by Purcell - Dickinson; and Psalm XVIII by Marcollo-Dubols. ' The Luther League met with the other denominational youth groups for the opening program of Youth Activities Week at Cen tral Methodist church. It was very encouraging to note that six ty young people were present. We pray that much good will be done during this week of fellowship and worship; and that a new un derstanding will be kindled be tween the different denomina tions taking part. The Luther League will leave from St. Matt hew's Sunday at 2:00 p. m. for a trip to Lutheridge, the Luther an Assembly grounds at Arden, N. C., where a picnic supper and worship service have been plan ned. Sunday afternoon at 4:00 p. m. the Primary and Junior depart ments will meet at the church to go to Lake Montonia for supper and a vesper service. The Council will meet Monday night at 7:30 p. m. at the church. The fifth annual Brotherhood Lay Retreat will be held at Lu theridge, Arden, N. C.( during the weekend of August 20-22. Ad dresses and discussion will be di rected toward the Brotherhood objectives "Encourage our men as Christian citizens to exert an Individual and collective Chris tian influence in the community, and to participate actively in the affairs of the government," and "Strengthen the home so that it may be a real school for Chris tian living." The Third Annual Lutheridge Boy Scout retreat will be *:??ld during the same week end. W- Davidson, of Boiling Springs. He is one of our gifted Christian professors. Our pastor is at Elizabeth church conduct ing a revival. this week. The Dedicated Life Service group had charge of the evening service. These young men and women who have felt the call to dedicate their lives to full-time Christian service is under the di rection of Mr.' and Mrs. W. B. Logan. P HATER MEETING We are to have a 24-hour sea son of prayer beginning at s* a. m. Friday night and ending at ft p. m. on Saturday night. The experience could start a mighty revival in our church* Plan to at tend one of these to keep the chain from toeing broken. The young people are sponsoring this ? so let's support them.
