Phone 167 Elizabeth Stewart, Editor Mrs. Claude Hambright Contract Club Hostess Contract Bridge club members met Tuesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Claude Hambright. Mrs. Tolly Shuford won club high - score award In bridge for the afternoon,- and the second high award went to Mrs. W. S. Fulton, Jr. Mrs. L. P. Stowe was a guest of the club. The hostess served a salad and dessert course after progressions. Thte home was de corated with arrangements of marigolds and zinnias. First Baptist Circle Held Supper Meeting Kathleen Mallory circle mem bers of First Baptist church held a picnic supper meeting at the home of Mrs. G. A. Bridges Tues day. Husbands of members werte special guests, Mrs. L. L. Benson offered the devotional, and a bus. lness meeting was held after the supper meeting. Mrs. Jack Hullendter, circle chairman, presided over the busi ness session. St. Matthew's Circle Held Meeting Monday Allle Bell circle members of St. Matthew's Lutheran church held their regular meeting Mon. day afternoon at the church. Miss Lucy Klser, circle chair man, was In charge of a program for the meeting and she present ed Mrs. F. R. Summers, Mrs. L. P. Baket-, Mrs. Arnuld Kiser, and Mrs. Otis Falls, who gave parts on the program. A short business meeting was held after the program. Twelve members and two visitors, Mrs. Junius Sipes and Miss Rachel Plonk, attended the meeting. Grace Methodist Class Held Regular Meeting Miss Gaye Hamrick entertain * ed members of her Sunday school class of Grace Methodist church Monday night at her home. It was the regular class meeting of thfe group. Games were directed by Miss Loraine Jonas, teacher of the k class, and Miss Hamrick was as sisted by her mother, Mrs. Gould Hamrick, in serving ice cream and cake with cold drinks. Ten members of the class wtere present. Regular Meeting Held Of Methodist Circle 4 Members of Circle 4 of" Central Methodist church met Monday, August 9 at the home of Mrs. Paul Brlggs. Mrs. Margie Alexander and Mrs. L. L. Alexander, assisted by Mrs. Paul Ware, Mrs. Ruth Cion inger, Mrs. Pink Ware and Mrs. Madge Rhea gave a program on "God's Word Is Seed " stession. Included in the business were plans for a Stanley Party in September. ' Miss Margaret Corn well Invit ed the circle to meet with her in September. Methodist Church Class Held Meeting Here Tuesday Members of the Friendship Class of Grace Methodist church held their regular monthly meet ing Tuesday evening at the home of Mrs. John Pearson on Lln wood road. Mrs. Andy Huffstetler, presi dent, called thte meeting to order, and the devotional was given by Mrs. Paul Howard. She used an a meditation Pslam 121, and the group sang two hymns, "Love Divine" and "He Leadeth Me." After the business session, re. frfcshments were served. Nine members of the class attended. Bessemer City MYF Group Attended Cherokee Drama A group of Kings Mountain and Bessemer City young people spent Saturday at Lake Junalus ka, the Methodist Assembly grounds, and attended the out door drama, "Unto Theste Hills." Mr. and Mrs. James Chasteen, of Bessemer City, accompanied Katherine Ware, Jane Kincaid, Judy Kiser, Shirley Ritley, Wan da Davis, Janice Matthews, Char lotte Thornburg, Ronnie Kincaid, Sonny Lackey, Larry Davis, Dale Harmon, Jimmy Forrester, and Eddie Barker on the trip. Mrs. M. E. Ramsey, Miss Jo anne Adams, and Miss Peggy Wright have returnted to their home in Washington, D. C., after spending two weeks with Mrs. Lucille Wright and other rela tives and friends. Teague Honored At Anniversary Reception On Tuesdav The children of the Rev. and Mrs. James Leroy Teagute hon ored their parents at a reception Tuesday, August 10, on the occa sion of their fiftieth wedding an niversary at the Bessemer City Woman's club between the hours of five and seven In the evening. The Rev. and Mrs. J. Clyde Yates, of Charlotte, Introduced guests to the honor couple. The children who' heltffed receive guests were Walter L. Teague, Baltimore, Md.; Mrs. Frank F. Sisk, Bessemer City; C. Van Tea gue, Hickory; James R. Teague, Charleston, W. Va.; and Mrs. Wayne C. Church, Charlotte. A second receiving line was formed by the In-laws. Assisting In serving wedding cake, golden punch, mints and ruts were Mrs. Fred Sisk, Mrs. Pink Thome, Mrs. A. B. Cobb, Miss Elizabeth Bridge, and the granddaughters, Misses Mary Jane and Elizabeth Sisk, and Miss Anne Teague. Guests were direct ed to the register by Mrs. C. E. Cash and Mrs. J. E. Lipford. Pre: siding at the register were Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Keeter, and good byes were said to Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Sisk. Miss Frandes Sisk and Miss Alene Queen ^furnished a program of music during the evening. The recepUon room was beauti fully decorated with ferns, cle matis and bowls of mixed yellow flowers. The table was overlaid with a lace cloth featuring the three-tiered wedding cake flank ed by crystal candelabra holding gold candles. Featured on the mantel was an arrangement of chrysanthemums and gladioli. Mrs. Teague chose for the Oc casion an afternoon dress of aqua lace featuring rhinestone ytrim and necklace. She wore a yfllow orcldd corsage at her shoulder. Lula Rickert Tea gut? was born in Iredell County October 5, 1880 and spent her childhood there. She was educated in the public schools of that county and at Tay lorsville Collegiate Institute, and I was united in marriage to James L-eroy Teague on August 2, 1904. Mr. Teague was born Novem ber 13, 1879 In Alexander County. C.; Elkin High school; Stony Point High school; and Cool Springs High school. In 1914 Mr. Teague was ordain ed to the ministry by Stony Point Baptist church and became pas tor of a field of Baptist churches in the Statesvllle area. He has held the following pastorates: First Baptist church. Granite Falls; First Baptist church, Bes semer City; Mountain Grove, An tloch, and Smyrna churches. Hic kory. He retired from the active pastorate about ten years ago. Since that time the couple havte made their home in Kings Moun tain, and at present In Bessemer City. Still, program chair man. was assisted In presenting a program on "India" by Mrs. Au brey Mauney and Mrs. Marie Queen. Mrs. Rosa Medlin, circle chair man, presided over the business session. Six members of thfe circle attended the meeting, and Miss Martha Plonk, of Corvallis, Ore gon, was a visitor at the meeting. Mrs. G. C.
