House And Garden Club Held Meeting Wednesday ? ? Members of the House and Gar-. ! -4en club held their first meeting of the year Wednesday afternoon at th? hom$ of Mrs. Amos Dean and hWrd an address by Mrs. Ennis Jackson, of Gastonia. Mrs. Jackson used the subject. "Flower Show Practices". She was Introduced by Mrs. Hayne Blackmer, program chairman. Mrs. P. M. Ntelsler and Mrs. Henry Nelsler displayed flower arrangements for the meeting. { MrSi P. M. Neisler displayed an arrangement of white roses with galax leaves and magnolia leaves in a white container, and Mrs. Nelsler combined pink roses with ! green grapes and caladium leaves in a milk glass container. Mrs. J. H. Patterson, president of the club, presided over the : business session, and during the j social hour, the hostess served a dessert course. Mrs. Patterson was elected by the club to fill the unexpired term ? of Mrs. L. E. Abhott, who leaves soon to make her home in Gaff ney, S. C. ST % BUtatwih Stewart, Editor Mrs. John L. McGill Hostess To Garden Club Members of the Kings Moun tain Garden club held their initial meeting of the year last Wednes day afternoon at the home of Mrs. John L. McGill. When guests arrived, a dessert plate with punch was served. Mrs. H. C. Mayes, the president, called the business meeting to or der, and committee chairmen gave reports. Plans were discuss ed for the year's Work, and year books, which had been made and hand-painted by Mrs. Vernon Crosby, a member of the club, were distributed. Mrs; II. R. Neisler was program chairman, for the afternoon and she showed' the group a collection, of slides she had photographed of flower arrangements club mem bers had made during the past year. The meeting Was closed with the club coll'ect, which was writ ten for the club by* Mrs. Crosby. I Mrs. T. L Kesler Bridge Gub Hostess | Friday Afternoon Bridge club ' members met Friday afternoon with. Mrs, T. L. Kesler at the Country dub. Guests, Invited to play with the regular club members, were Mrs. P. ?, Hendricks, Mrs. W. K. Mau ney, Jr., Mrs. L. E. Abbott, Mrs. J. M. Cooper, Mrs. Howard Jack son, and Mrs. D. M. Peeler. Mrs. Jack White won high score for club members, and the second-high award went to Mrs. C. T. Carpenter, Jr. Mrs. Hten dricks won the visitor's prize. ? Prior to progressions, the hos tess served a salad plate with des sert and punch. Arrangements of white and yellow glads and chrysanthemums decorated the club. Azalea Garden Club Held Meeting Thursday Members of the Azalea Garden club met at the home of Mrs. IBoyce Gault on Thursday even ing. Margrace Club Women Heard Program On Europe Members of the Margraee Wo man's club held their tegular monthly meeting Friday night at the Margrac^ clubhouse. Mrs. Paul Mauney was speaker for the meeting and she told of her recent trip to Europe. Mrs. C. W. Falls, the president, con ducted the business session. - j Mrs. George -Sellers, chaplain, was in charge of a devotional for the meeting. Hostesses for the meeting werte Mrs. Floyd Gates, Mrs. Falls, Mrs! Carl Gantt, and Mrs. Joe Foster, and they served a salad plate with accessories. Bingo was enjoyed during the social hour. Mrs. W. G. Grantham and Mrs. Grantham's mother, Mrs. E. R. Harding, o? Guilford college, ac companied Miss Barbara Gran tham to Westminister Choir col lege at Princeton, New Jersey, on Friday where Miss Grantham is a student. . Before returning to Kings Mountain, they will visit Miss Dotty Smith, a student at Interboro Institute, in New York. Eastern Star Chapter Held Regular Meeting Members of the local Eastern Star chapter held their regular meeting at Masonic Hall Friday night after a family dinner was enjoyed at New South Restau rant. It was the official visit of 17th district officials, and guests in cluded Mrs. Martha W. Horton, jdt . Cramerton, district deputy matron, W. ft. Husklns, of Gas tonia, district deputy grand pa tron of the 17 district, and Archi bald .Patterson, past grand patron of a Quebec, Canada, chapter now living In Spindale. Fifteen othter visitors and 30 members of the Eastern Star at tended. Mrs. Rowell Lane, worthy matron, presided. Music was furnished during the ; program by Rev. H. Q. Weekley, Jr., and after the mteeting re freshments were served by Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Bridges, Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Benson, and Mrs. Da vid Saunders. Mrs. Bobby Eng Honored At Party Here Wednesday Mrs. D. E. Tate and Miss Ja nelle Medlln entertained last Wed nesday evening at the Margrace Woman's clubhouse compliment ing Mrs. Bobby Eng, a recent bride. The refreshment table held a bride doll, and a ; Ink fan with flowers, and card tables, where guests were seated for refresh ments, held miniature pink fans and roses. * Lime punch with individual cakes was served after games were enjoyed. The honoree wore a blue party dress and a shoulder corsage of white camellias. A shower of miscellaneous gilts was presented to the hono ree. Eighteen guests attended. E. Abbott, vice-president and cashier at First National Bank and a sponsor for the club. Mr. Abbott spoke on the sub ject, "The Right Attitude" and discussed self respect, pride in work, dependability, friendliness, - tact enthusiasm, optimism, . and helpfullness. Mrs. Faye Nfeal, chaplain, gave the Invocation, and Mrs. Charles Alexander, the president, intro duced the speaker.
