Tuesday night's meeting of the
Home Arts club at the hom<' of
Mrs. J. Wilson Crawford.

Mr. Toole, citing the work of
the -agency, said its major job is
its public awareness pro;ram, a
fceed to help any and all who is
honestly willing to help himself.

vanced students in the Kings
Mountain high school Cosmetolo-

show with an original hairstyle.
The hair had been bleached and
tinted medium blonde with gold
highlights with a flattering,
short cut and soft curl. Model
was June Moore.
Second plac^e winner in the
show was the only malb student
in Mrs. Lillian Whitworth’s class.
Jimmy Earncy, senior student,
used flovvers to enhance a short
style on light brown hair. His
model was Jeannie Allison, jun
ior.
Area Students Win
DAR History Awards
Carrol Sco+f Ledford, Sharon Evon Sanders and
Vickie Elizabeth Cronan are winners of the DAR history
medals in the elementary schools.
The history essay contest is sponsored annually by
Colonel Frederick Hambright Chapter, Daughters of
the American Revolution.
Students in the fifth, sixth, and seventh grades of
the district system were invited to submit essays on the
subject, "Heroines Of American Revolution."
Young Ledford is a North school fifth grader. Miss
Sanders is a sixth grader from Bethware. and Miss Cro
nan is a seventh grader at Central Junior high school.
Medals will be presented to the winners at school
commencement exercises.

Senior Citizens club members will gather for their
regular luncheon meeting Friday at noon at the Wom
an's club.
A committee from the Woman's club is in charge
of the program and refreshments.

the high school greenhouses for their program Wednes
day afternoon at 3:30.

Mrs, Ellen Petrosino spent the weekend in Greens
boro with her sister, Mrs. J. R. Whittiemore. Mrs. Don
Blackwell and sons, David and Mark, spent the weekend
in Greensboro with friends.
Mrs. Ruth Wright Patterson, daughter of Mrs.
Marie Wright of Kings Mountain, was graduated Mon
day night from Gaston Memorial Hospital School of
Practical Nurses in Gastonle.
Going to Gastonia for the graduation exercises
were her mother, Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Collins, all of
Cings Mountain, and Mr. and Mrs, Marvin Blddix of
"harlotte.

Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Allen Evans announce the birth
of a daughter, Haydon Annette, March 3, Cleveland
Memorial hospital. The child weighed seven poOnds,
six ounces.
Mrs. Evans is the former Carolyn Owens, daughter
