The anpointmeni was made by Mrs. Robert T. Bridges of Greens boro, I'll airman of the Alumni Annual Giving Council. Afrs. The beginning date for the local campaign will he an nounced in the wtx'ks ahead. There are 179 alumni of HNC- G living in Cleveland County,: most of who matlended the insti tution during the years it was known as the Woman's College of U.VC or North Carolina Col lege for Women. Similar county and community organizations involving more than .70 groups will make persona] vis itations during the fall to invite alumni parlieipation in the an nual gift to the University. Last j-ear in a similar campaign $1-12 000 was eonlributed, and the previous year's total was $1.31,1500. The annual giving program has boon in operation for seven years, with increases each successive year. These include 2S alumni .scholarships Lions Sponsoi Picnic For Blind The Lions Clubs of Cleveland County ate sponsoring a picnic at Camp Dogwood on Saturday .deplcmber 6lh. Cili>.ens of Kings ■Mountain area who know of a blind person who would like to go on this outing should contact Ray Holmes, the President of the Kings Mountain Lions Club at 7,39-5829 or any member of the Lions club. Camp Dogwood is a resort fa cility^ built on ihe north shores of Lake Norman in Lincoln Coun ty, The Lions Clubs of North Carolina have raised money for this project through locaj sales and money raising projects. At this time more than $250,000 dol lars have been sjjeal there. Visitors will find a large recrea tion lixige with lilirary, recrea tion and dining facilities. A large dormitory has just been dedicat ed that will sleep forty guests. On Ihe lake front, swimming, boating, fishing, water skiing and other outdoor sports are available to the blind person. Each summer vacation camps are open to any blind person at a very_moderate cost and it is with th’e intent of this picnic to “show" the blind what is avail able for them.
