Phar maceutical Association. Ihe convention is sched uled for Sun., Apr. 34 at 4 p. m. at the Holiday Inn — Four Seasons, Orsensboro. Blanton, owner of Kings Mountain Drug, presents the award In memory of his father, who also served as a pharmacist In Kings Mountain. Changes Are Made BOIUNG SPRINOS - Two administrative staff changes have been an nounced by Gardner-Webb Q^ege President Oaven E. Williams. Robert W. Abrams, director of admissions since 1967, has been ap pointed to the newly- created position of director of church relations, and Richard M. Holbrook, associate director of ad missions, has been named director of admissions, replacing Abrams. The changes are effec tive July 1. According to Dr. WllUams, the creation of the office of church rela tions will enable Gardner- Webb "to express more enq>hatlcally our kinship with the churches as well as the denomination.'' "Gardner-Webb has kept close ties with the church since Its beginning, and over the years, a number of people have nurtured this relationship," he ex plained. "Now we have the opportunity to make this relationship even more vibrant. "From his IS years of experience, Robert Abrams Is fully knowledgeable of all aspects of the college. The fact that he Is an ordained minister makes him uni4ueiy qualified for this new position." Abrams joined the Gardner-Webb staff as director of promotions in 1962 following 17 years as a Baptist pastor. From 196B to 1967, he served as direrctor of development. Prior to beginning his career at Gardner-Webb, he was pastor of First Biq>tlst Church, Sylva, tor nine years. He Iim also served as pastor of Deavervlew Baptist Church, Asheville, and pastor of Rising Sun Baptist Church, Rising Sun, Ind. A native of Ruther- fordton, Abrams received an A. A. degree from Gardner-Webb College and a B. A. degree from Wake Forest University. He was awarded the bachelor of divinity degree by the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He Is married to the former Elva Mae Spake of Casar. They are the parents of three daughters and a son. A native of Elkin, Hol brook Is completing his first year as associate director of admissions. He joined the Gardner-W^b staff In August after two years as director of admis sions at Limestone College where he was responelble tor recruitment, financial aid and veteran affairs programs. He Is a former teacher and basketball coach at Chase High School In Forest City, and a U. S. Army veteran having served in thel military Intelligence branch. Holbrook la a graduate of Gardner-Webb. He earned a B. S. degree at Mars HUl College and received a masters degree In education from Boston University. He and his wife, the former Kathryn Evans, have one child.
