Kings Mountain Junior High’s varsity cagers con- tkiued their winning ways Monday at Marion, taking a twinbill from East McDowell. The girls won 40-30 behind some balanced scoring and the boys won 73-47 in their biggest romp of the season. The two KMJH teams face their toughest tesU of the early season today at 4 p. m., when they take on a pidr of tough Shelby teams in Shelby. Diane Williams had anodier big game for the Lady Pa triots Monday, scoring a game-high 15 points and haul ing in 15 big rebounds. Sheryl Goode added 13 points and 11 rebounds and Pam Baity had 10 points. “We had a real tough game,” noted Ooach Candy Alberglne “We were real tickled to come out of there with a victory.” KM held only an 18-15 lead at halftime. Monday’s victory kept the Lady Patriots in a tie with Shelby for the Western Con ference lead. The Shelby ladies won their third straight Monday wiflj a 44-38 win over Grandview of Hickory. The KM boys feU behind U-S after one period of play but \hice Roseboro and Dennia McGUl came off the bench in the second quarter to spark a 25-point rally that put Ooach Km Napier’s dub out front by 33-20 at halftime. Roseboro scored 10 points during the spurt and McGill had eight. McGill finished with 15 points and Roseboro 12. Carl Smith, who hit five of seven shots from the floor, and Ricky Proctor, who came up with some big steals on defmse, added 10 points each and Markus Hager came off the bench to score eight points. The PatrioU shot 41 percmt bom tho floor and SO parcant from the foul line. The victory kept the Patriott tied with Grandview for the league lead. Grand view defeated Shelby 77-60 for its third in a row. The two KM clubs return home Monday for their final pre-Christmas games against Emt McDoweU. KM’S Jayvees split their twinbill with West McDoweU Monday at home, the boys winning 46-20 and the girls losing 28-20. Angda Bell scored 10 points for the KM girls. The Jayvee teams host Shdby to^ and travel to Emt McDoaraU on Monday.
