Agroupof us from Dixon Presbyterian Church saw the musical last Friday night by the Lenoir Rhyne College Playmakers in Hickory. BRIDE-ELECT HONORED—Miss Lori Blanton, center, July bride-elect, was honored Saturday evening at a bridal shower hosted hy her aunts, Mrs. Harold Blanton, left, and Mfs. Garth Hawkins, right. Thirty-five friends and relatives attended the drop-in at El Bethel United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Lori Blanton Honored At Saturday Drop-In Mrs. Garth Hawkins of Cliarlotte and Mrs. Harold Blanton of Kings Mountain entertained together Saturday evening at a bridal drop-in shower honoring their niece. Miss Lori Blanton of Durham, whose wedding to Richard Smith of Durham takes place July 14th at 3 p.m. in Durham’s McMannon Methodist Church. Miss Blanton is daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Blanton, formerly of Kings Mountain, and grand daughter of Mrs. Ruth Gamble and Mr. and Mrs. J. Wiley Blanton, all of Kings Mountain. Receiving with the bride- to-be were her mother and grandmothers and the bridegroom-to-be’s grandmother, Mrs. M.S. Smith of Hickory. Among out-of-town guests present were the bride-to-be’s great-aunts, Mrs. J.S. Dedmon of Shelby and Mrs. Helen Warren of Hickory. The bride-to-be wore a rust full-skirted party dress and a shoulder corsage of yellow silk mums, gift of the hostesses. Overlaid with hand- crocheted yellow lace over white, the bride’s table was highlight of decoration. An arrangement of daisies, chrysanthemums and tulips in yellow and white was accented by but terflies and was central decoration for the table. Yellow punh was served from a cutglass punch bowl. Decorated yellow and white bridal cake squares were served with nuts and fancy sand wiches. The gift table, also done in yellow and white, held a bridal umbrella at the center and featured a bride doll made by the bride’s grandmother, Mrs. Ruth Gamble, along with a bridal book featuring a story of the bride-to-be’s life in pictures from her birth on April 24, 1961, including pictures of the family during their service with the U.S. Navy. Mrs. Gamble made the bride doll’s pearl necklace from pearls belonging to her mother, Mrs. Myrtle Eaker, great-grandmother of the bride-elect, and a goodluck horseshoe pin fastening the back of the gown was also the bride-to- be’s great-grandmother’s jewelry. The family book was also a gift of Mrs. Ruth Gamble as were a sewing machine and handmade quilt. Thirty-five guests called between 7 and 9 p.m. and showered the bride-to-be with gifts for her new home. Miss Neill, Mr. Sturgis Wed Saturday (Begins on page 3B) Silesta featuring a fitted bodice with bateau neckline and enhanced by attached bias capelet and flared skirt. She wore an orchid corsage at her shoulder. After the ceremony the bride’s parents en tertained at a wedding reception at the church fellowship hall where the yellow and white theme of the wedding was beautifully combined in decorative details. The bride’s sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Herran, and the bride’s uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Webb, entertained 100 guests after the reception at a cocktail buffet. BRIDE AND BRIDEGROOM The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Jean Webb Neill and David Moore Neill, both of Charlotte, and is granddaughter of R. Halbert Webb of Kings Mountain and the late Mrs. Mary Belle Webb and of the late Mr. and Mrs. Buren S. Neill, Sr. Prior to her marriage she was secretary-treasurer of Florest Lakes Travel Agency in Charlotte. Mr. and Mrs. Leon Sturgis of Charlotte are parents of the bridegroom who is employed by Ralston-Purina Co. of Raleigh. Raleigh will be home for the newlweds.
