The $120,000 is expected to be in the hands of city officials by next Monday and the money is ear marked for use in the current construction of a sludge treatment facility at Ellison Water Treat ment Plant. NCNB was the suc cessful bidder, granting the city 187 days to retire the notes at 5.34 percent interest. The arrangements were handled by the N.C. Local Government Commission. aty Clerk Joe McDaniel said the sludge treatment facility will cost in excess of $400,000 and that the $120,000 is the initial monies raised toward construction. "The city sold the anticipation notes at this point because construction is underway. Later, perhaps, the city will sell Water Bonds to raise funds.”.” McDaniel said the 5.34 percent interest rate “is excellent and perhaps the city can retire those notes before the 187 days are up.” The sludge treatment facility is designed to clean the backwash filtering system at the Ellison Plant. Symphony Rep WiU Speak Here Tom Stanback, a representative of the N.C. Symphony, will meet with school officials and in terested citizens Thurs., April 19 at 2 p.m. at Barnes Auditorium.
