Williams, Gaston County-113.88 the nearly one dozen films produced so far. "Legend” Is main stream, huge In scope and depth. It has high level performances dotting the lavish canvsui, from the leads down thrcxigh the supporting cast. The film shows firm control by young director Worth Keeter from Tom McIn tyre's powerful script. "Legend” Is the story of an aging rock superstsu-’s career finale. Earl Owensby displays a far wider emotional acting range as the trcxibled Ell Canfield • and his por trayal Is a no holds barred portrait of how life at the top can dehumanize and destroy. Owensby’s Ell Is totally believable In Its baslcally-decent-man- gone-astray approach. It shows truth In that people Idolized by millions can easily lose touch with the real world and real values. As Gentleman Jim Cannon, Ell’s personal manager, William Hicks Is a man the audience loves to hate. His Gentleman Jim la ruthless; pushing, driving Ell toward collapse In his own search for total power behind the throne. Cannon’s own personality has melded with Canfield’s to the point he always refers to Ell’s career as "Our career.” Ginger Alden, making her screen debut, turns In a well modulated per formance as the girl who falls In love with Ell for himself and not what the world thinks he Is. In one sequence Miss Alden also pleases the audience with a concert In Miami. And her final scene following the;, divorce Is touching without: a word being spoken. Toby Wallace, Gen tleman Jim’s protoge,^ adds balance to HlcksP performance by serving as his devil’s advocate In the continual push of EU’a career. "The Living Legend’’" will be released by Pacific^ International Enterprises,* either In August or December. It will appear In theatres all over the U.S. and the United Kingdom - simultaneously. ' ~ If audience reaction^ elsewhere Is anything like It was at the Capri last Thursday, Owensby will have a box office hit on his hands. And "Legend" could very well become just that. Rabies Oinics Are Set The Cleveland County Health Department Is sponsoring rabies vac cination clinics this week through May 10. During this first week the clinics are being held In every township, conducted by veterinarians offices during office hours. The vaccine will be given at a reduced rate of $4 per injection. After the clinics the price will be $6. In this area the clinics are scheduled Sat., May 12 at Bethlehem Fire Department, 3-8:30 p.m.; Grover Schol, 3:46-4:16 p.m.; and West School, Kings Mountain, 4:80-9 p.m. Dr. Jerry Eskridge, local vet, la conducting these clinics. State law requires that all dogs four months of age and over be vaccinated against rabies. Althougl,^ cats are not required to be vaccinated, the health : department recommends cat owners have them vaccinated as a safety precaution. ^ Any one having^; questions concerning the rabies clinics may call 487- U30. • ; FLEA FESTIVAL Why hold your Yard Sale on a street where the traffic Is light, the crowds small, and buyers are few?
