All tickets sold in July to the game which was rained out will be honored. Kings Mountain High’s jayvee football team will open 1982 play Friday at 5 p.m. at Bessemer City. It’s the first of eight games for the Little Mountaineers, who hope to be much-improved over last year, when they were 2-5-1. Most of the players on this year’s team were members of the Kings Mountain Junior High team last fall which finished 5-2. ' Head Coach Tim Echols, who is assisted this year by Warren Goforth, feels his team will be streng in the passing department and hopes to develop a sound running game. Maury Williams will open at quarterback for the Mounties, and Lavar Curry, the leading rusher and pass receiver at the junior high last year, will start at Mounties Scrimmage Thursday : (Cont. From Page 1) On defense, Pressley and Schronce look good at safety. Goode, Mathis, Short and Zack Roseboro are battling for the cornerback positions. Johnson will probably start at one inside linebacker position and Tommy Welch and Randy Whitaker are battling for the other. Dixon, Stowe and Odems look good at outside linebacker. Hullender is a strong possibili- ty at defensive end, and since his injury Champion, Reynolds, Rainey and David Parker have also beeing working there. Graham, Potter, David Put- nam and Dale Moore are com- peting at defensive tackle. “We’re going to play as many as we can there and try to get them a lot of playing time,” Brooks said. Brooks said it’s hard to say what the team’s greatest strength will be until after he’s seen them in action, but it could be depth at running back, and the ex- perience on the strong side of the line. “We haven’t had depth in several years,” he said, “and we feel real good about that situa- tion. It’s a good problem of try- ing to decide who to start. The main thing is we just need to keep everybody healthy and con- tinue to progress.” Thursday’s scrimmage at In- dependence will begin at 7:30. Kings Mountain fans planning to attend should take In- dependence - Boulevard by the Charlotte Coliseum to Albemarle Road. Take a left on Albemarle Road and go four to five miles and turn right on Lawyers Road. Go two or three miles to the first stop light and take a left. The school is about a half mile.
