FORM NO. 26 RESOLUTION OF INTENT A resolution declaring the in- tention of the Board of Commis- sioners of the City of Kings Mountain to consider the closing of Webb Street between Lynn Street and U.S. 74 By-Pass. WHEREAS, G.S. 160A-299 authorizes the Board Of Com- missioners of the City of Kings Mountain to close public streets; : and WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners Of The City Of Kings Mountain considers it ad- visable to conduct a public hear- ing for the purpose of giving con- sideration to the closing of WEBB Street between LYNN Street and U.S. 74 By-Pass; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board Of Commissioners Of The City Of Kings Mountain meeting in regular session that: (1) A meeting will be held at 7:30 (p.m.) on the 27th day of September, 1982, at the City Hall, Kings Mountain, N.C. to consider a resolution closing that portion of Webb Street between Lynn Street and U.S. 74 By- Pass. (2)The City Clerk is hereby directed to publish this Resolu- tion of Intent once a week for four weeks in the Kings Moun- tain Herald. (3) The City Clerk is further directed to transmit by certified mail to each owner of property abutting upon that portion of said street a copy of this Resolu- tion of Intent. Upon motion duly made by Commissioner Humes Houston and duly seconded by Commis- sioner James J. Dickey the above resolution was duly adopted by the Board Of Commissioners Of The City of Kings Mountain at the regular meeting held on the 23rd day of August, 1982, in the City Hall. Upon call for a vote the following Commissioners voted in the affirmative: James A. Childers, Humes Houston, Norman King, Curtis V. Gaffney, James J. Dickey. Richard, son of Dr. and Mrs. Paul M. Abernethy of Burlington, N.C, is a graduate of Wofford College and Campbell University School of Law. A former Asst. District Attorney in Gaston Co., Richard is currently practicing law in Kings Mountain in the firm of Corry and Abernethy. Wedding date, October 9, 1982 at Ceder Grove Lutheran Church, Vale, N.C. .was A new, 1982 Ford owned by Wade Ford Company of Kings Mountain was damaged $3,000 in an accident Tuesday on Highway 74. According to Kings Mountain Police reports, David C. Allen of Route 1, Grover, was driving the car when it was struck by a 1975 Ford driven by Robert Neal Holland of Route 2, Kings Mountain. Investigating officer Ralph Grindstaff listed damage to Holland’s car at $300. Holland was treated for injuries at Kings Mountain Hospital. Holland was charged with failure to reduce speed. A car driven by Rhonda Keith of Route 5 struck a utility pole Thursday in the parking lot of TG&Y. Damage to the Keith 1976 Oldsmobile was $600 and damage to the utility pole was $50. A 1969 Ford driven by Ben- jamin Darrell Thomas of 308%: Mountain Street struck a 1979 Chevy driven by Patricia Frye of Route 1, Bessemer City in the rear Thursday on York Road. Damage to Thomas’s car was $150 and damage to Frye’s car $100. Don Ivey in- vestigated. Brenda Lingerfelt Carroll of 206 Margaret Street was backing her 1972 Ford down Grace Street Thursday and struck a 1966 Ford owned by Daphene Starnes fo 909 Grace Street. Damage to the Starnes car was $250 and damage to Carroll’s car was $125. Don Ivey in- vestigated. Both drivers told in- vestigating officer Billy Benton that they had the green light. Damage to Fortenberry’s 1979 Chevrolet was $1,800 and dmage to Kelly’s 1976 Chevy was $750. A 1964 Chevrolet operated by Leroy Howell of 205 Lackey Street struck a car operated by Marion Croft of Route 1, Grover, Sunday at the intersec- tion of Gantt Street and Park Drive. Damage to Croft’s 1973 Ford was $350 and damgae to Howell’s 1964 Chevy was $100. Roy Dyer investigated. Darren Shank of 70 Pine Maner was treated at Kings Mountain Hospital Sunday after he rode his bicycle into the path of a 1979 Sprint operated by Lucille Caveny Bowen of Route 4. The accident occured at the intersection of East Gold and York Road. No damage was reported to the car.
