Banquet Set Kings Mountain Jaycees will honor citizens for outstanding achievement during 1982 at its annual Distinguished Service Awards Banquet Mon. Jan. 10 at 7 p.m. at the Holiday Inn. Presentation of the coveted “Young Man of the Year” award will highlight the awards presentation. Nominations for the “Young Man of the Year” are being accepted from the public. The award honors a young man under the age of 35 for outstanding community, civic, and personal achievement. Applications for this award can be obtained from Warlick and Hamrick Insurance or at Corn- well Drug. Presentations of Outstanding Service Awards will also be made to Kings ‘Mountain Outstanding Young Educator, Outstanding Young Fireman, Outstanding Young Rescuer, Boss of the Year, Outstanding Young Teenagers, and Outstan- ding Former Jaycee. Five Kings Mountain educators are vieing for the title of “Outstanding Young Educator”. FULTON DOWNTOWN KINGS MOUNTAIN Nominated to receive the award as Outstanding Young Rescuer are Richard Byers, Russell Falls, Jeffrey Cloninger and James Self. The Kings Mountain Jaycees will introduce a new category to the wards this year to honor outstanding community - and school achievements. by teenagers. The nominees for Outstanding Young Teenager are Heather Bradshaw and Kevin Bolin. The nominees for Outstanding Teenager are Don- na Wright and David Peeler. EVERY ITEM ON SALE...MANY ITEMS NOW Firemen Get Plato’s Goat The Kings Mountain Fire Department answered a call at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday on Cleveland Avenue for what could have been Santa Claus’s reindeer. But, it turned out to be a herd of goats belonging to Plato Heavner, a retired fireman who is recovering from a heart attack. The firemen rounded up the goats and put them back in the pasture to graze for the night. The roundup was led by the Duke, Chief Gene Tignor. GOSPEL SINGING The True Gospel Holiness Church of Kings Mountain is having a singing Sunday at 2:30 p.m. Featured group will be the Trinity Gospel Singers. Rev.
