CT Sar KM Baptist To Show “Jesus Is Victor” Film A special showing of the new World Wide Pictures release, “Jesus Is Victor”, is scheduled for Sunday, July 29 at Kings Mountain Baptist Church, 101 West Mountain Street, Kings . Mountain. The showing, which is open to the public and free of charge, will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the sanctuary. “Jesus Is Victor” is a personal and intimate portrait of Corrie ten Boom, a Dutch Christian who, until she was silenced by a stroke in 1978 at the age of 86, Minister Studying In Decatur Charles minister of Long Creek Presbyterian Church, will be engaged in two weeks of study at Columbia Theological Seminary July 23-August 3. Rev. Daven- port is a candidate for the Doc- tor of Ministry Degree from the Seminary of the Presbyterian Churc (USA) located in Decatur, Georgia. During this two week stay in Decatur, Rev. Davenport will be enrolled in a class entitled “Baptism, Eucharist, and Ministry.” The course will ex- plore the common ground the worlds churches have found in the celebration of the sacraments and ministry of the church. A visiting professor from the United Kingdom will lead the discussions. During the ministers absence, Stuart Ritchie will fill the pulpit. Ritchie a native of Parkersburg, West Virginia, now resides in Charlotte. Ritchie supplied the Long Creek Church during 1982-83. The community is in- vited to share the worship ex- perience with the congregation at Long Creek. W. Davenport, traveled the globe telling of her experience in Nazi-occupied Holland during World War II. She and her family were respon- sible for saving the lives of hun- dreds of Jews through their work with the “underground.” “Jesus Is Victor” gives the viewer an opportunity to meet Corrie face-to-face~to trave with her through 35 years of ministry in some 65 countries around the world- to discover the qualities - of faith and courage that have made her a respected and belov- ed servant of God. The film represents Corrie ten Boom’s final appearance before a camera—just prior to her severe illness. Executie’ Producer, William F. Brown, describes Corrie ten Boom as a beautiful example of how God’s love can give us the courage to face even life’s most difficult situations, and come out victorious. The film features Jeannette Clift, who starred as Corrie in “The Hiding Place.” Cliff Bar- rows of the Billy Graham Crusade Team, who has been a personal friend of Corrie’s for several years, also appears in the film. : Pastor J.C. Goare and the members of the Kings Mountain Baptist Church have extended an invitation to all to attend this special showing. Revival In Progress “Trucking For Jesus Ministries” is sponsoring a tent revival through August 4 across from Missionary Methodist Church on Second Street. Evangelist is Bobby Lockey of Rutherfordton. Services are held nightly at 7:30 and on Sundays at 2:30. Special singing is presented at each service. The public is invited to attend. Herndon and the late Jean Lynch Herndon, has graduated from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. He will be awarded a Bachelor of Arts degr- ree in Criminal Justice, with em- phasis on juvenile justice issues, after completing a summer academic program in London, England. While in London, he will participate in a comparative study of the judicial systems of Great Britain and the United States. As a student of George Washington University, David completed his course of study in three years and was an active member of the Washington, D.C. Alpha chapter of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. Following his studies in England, he will tour the Scan- dinavian countries before return- ing to the Washington, D.C. area to pursue a career. David presently resides at 1415 N. Oak Street No. 201 / Arlington/Va. 22209. David is the grandson of Mrs. Elizabeth S. Lynch and Mrs. J.E. Herndon. Gospel Sing Set In t Shelby, The River of Life SA of Dallas will be the featured gospel singing group at a gospel singing Sunday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church on Dover Street in Shelby. A Gospel Sing will also be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at David Memorial Baptist Church on Country Club Road in Shelby. Other featured group will be Singing Disciples. Dr. W_.L. Net in- come for the quarter ended June 30 was $3,984,000 or $.72 per share compared with $4,738,000 or $.94 per share for the second quarter of 1983. At June 30, 1984, total assets of the Corporation were $1.90 billion, an increase of 22.2% over the total reported at the end of the second quarter of 1983. Loans outstanding showed a growth of 29.6% and deposits increased by 23.2% over the . balance reported at June 30, 1983. In releasing the earnings, L.
