Hayley is the daughter of Timothy and Carol Borders of Grover, the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hor- ton of Kings Mountain and Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Borders of Grover, the great- granddaughter of Mrs. Geneva Leming, Mr. and Mrs. James Reynolds of Kings Mountain, Mrs. C.A. Borders of Grover, and Mrs. Edna Horton of Belmont. Hayley’s mother is the former Carol Horton of Kings Mountain. HAYLEY BORDERS Michael Celebrates His Fifth Birthday - Michael Eugene Kuyken- dall, son of Dennis and Sharon Kuykendall, celebrated his fifth birthday Monday April 15th. He was given a birthday party at McDonald’s which was attended by many of his ~ friends. Michael is the grandson of Roger and Patricia Greason, of Kings Mountain and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Kuykendall of Bessemer City. Great- grandparents are Emma and Willie Greason, Mrs. Estelle Pennington and the late Frank Pennington, of Kings Mountain. ROSCOE COX Funeral services for Ernest Roscoe Cox, 61, of 307 Oriental Avenue, who died Saturday morning in Kings Mountain Hospital, were con- ducted Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. from East Gold Street Wesleyan Church by the Rev. George Simmons, interment following in Mountain Rest Cemetery. Mr. Cox was a native of Cleveland County, a retired textile employee and the son of Lizzie Ham Cox of Kings Mountain and the late James Cox. ~ Surviving, in addition to his mother, are a brother, Ray- mond Cox of Kings Moun- tain; and two sisters, Cleo Ware of Kings Mountain and Aileen Lail of Shelby. MRS. H.A. HARRIS - Graveside services for Mrs. Virginia Jett Harris, 90, of 205 W. Mountain St., who died Thursday in the Kings Mountain Convalescent Center, were conducted Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. from Mountain Rest Cemetery. Her pastor, Rev. George Auman, officiated at the rites assisted by Rev. William Tyson of Boyce Memorial ARP Church and Dr. Joel Jenkins of First Baptist Church. Mrs. Harris was born Sept. 15, 1894 in Pacolet, S.C., the only child of the late James and Somantha Whitt Jett. For many years she was a railroad clerk for the Southern Railway in Taylors, S.C. before moving to Kings Mountain and worked for a number of years before retirement as a sales clerk at both Keeter’s and Fulton's Department Stores. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church. She was ‘the widow of Horace Abner Harris. Surviving are her son, Jim- my Harris, and her daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth McDaniel; ~ friends and family. OBITUNRIES her son-in-law, Bruce McDaniel and her daughter- in-law, Carolyn Harris, all of Kings Mountain; two grand- sons, George Harris of Nashville, Tenn. and Wally Harris of Kansas City, Kan- sas; and six great- grandchildren. DR. CHARLES VEIRS Memorial services for Dr. Charles Robert Veirs, 59, of 108 Mulberry Road, Grover, were held Wednesday after- noon at 4 p.m. from the Chapel of Harris Funeral Home. Rev. Harold Hutchinson, pastor of Shiloh Presbyterian Church, officiated at the rites and interment was in Old Masonic Cemetery, Steilacoom, Washington. Dr. Veirs died Sunday at his home. He was a native of Pryor County, Oklahoma, son of Cyrus R. Veirs of Colorado Springs, Colo. and the late Anna Johnson Veirs. He was married to the late Suzie Veirs. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Dr. Veirs was the Physi- cian in charge of the Doctor’s Clinic in Grover. Surviving, in addition to his father, are his son, Jim Veirs of Acme, Washington; his daughter, Beth Fyles of Tacoma, Washington; two sisters, Jean Ann Gags of Col- orado Springs, Colo. and Becky Hutchinson of Mission Veijo, California., and two grandchildren. Jimmy Caldwell in the obituary of Mildred Elizabeth O’Brien Caldwell in last week’s Herald. Jimmy Caldwell is grandson of the deceased. CATHERINE GORDON Catherine Celebrates Birthday Catherine Leanne Gordon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Gordon, celebrated her first birthday Tuesday, April 23.
