Page 4A-KINGS MOUNTAIN HERALD-Thursday, April 25, 1985 Glen Raven Opens Custom Yarns Division Glen Raven Mills, Inc. an- nounces the formation of the Custom Yarns Division to supply spun yarns to knitters and weavers, primarily in the apparel and home fur- nishings trades. The spinning mills assigned to the new operating division are design- ed to process cotton fibers in addition to rayon, polyester, wool, and acrylic. The new venture offers yarns of col- ored fibers, slubs, and blends of two or more fibers. The new Custom Yarns Division complements the product line offered by Glen Raven’s Glenspun Disvision, a long-established supplier of natural and colored 100% synthetic fiber yarns and 100% cotton dyed yarns. The new operation will significantly broaden Glen Raven’s offerings in 100% cotton and cotton-blend yarns, all tailored to specific customer and market re- quirements. The Custom. Yarns Division boasts of air-spliced yarns for the most discerning users, plied yarns, Moxie mock- spun blends, producer- colored and other dyed-fiber blends, and a variety of polyesters blended with cot- ton. Also available are the newest of custom-designed yarns such as colored chips, slubs and Courcel blends for unique styling and aesthetic properties. MYRTLE BRIDGES Funeral services for Mrs. Myrtle Carroll Bridges, 88, of Route 1, who died Tuesday morning at home, will be con- ducted Thursday at 4 p.m. from Masters Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. George Leigh, interment following in Patterson Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Bridges was widow of Sinclair Bridges and daughter of the late John William and Minnie Lee Goforth Carroll. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church. Surviving are her son, Carl Bridges of Kings Mountain; three daughters, Miss Virginia Bridges and Mrs. Barbara Fitch, both of Kings Mountain, and Mrs. Carol Ann McMillian of Laurin- burg; four brothers, J.C. Car- roll, Samuel S. Carroll, George Nelson Carroll, all of Kings Mountain, and James Wiley Carroll of Nebo; two sisters, Mrs. Audrey Ruth Hancock of Waco and Mrs. Pauline Perkins of Kings Mountain; 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great- grandchildren. The family received friends Wednesday night at Masters Funeral Home. Wade Tyner Secretary Of Car Dealers’ Group From Page 1-A Automobile Dealers associa- tions. Tyner has been the Ford dealer in Kings Mountain for the past 15 years and for 13 years before that, he worked for and managed dealerships in Shelby. He is a third generation Ford dealer. His grandfather and father own- ed Ford franchises in eastern North Carolina. Tyner is on the Board of Directors of Home Federal Savings and Loan Associa- tion and is Past President and current Director of the Kings Mountain Rotary Club. He is also a lifetime member of the Shelby Civitan Club. He is married to the former Bradine Lail of Kings Moun- tain. They are active in First Baptist Church. They have three sons, David Tyner; who is working on a doctorate at UNC-Chapel Hill; Kevin Queen, who works for the CECOR Corporation in Hickory; and Kyle Tyner, who is employed by E.I. Du- Pont Corporation in Califor- nia. Joe Davis To Manage First Federal Branch From Page 1-A First Federal was formed in 1907 and is one of the jy strongest savings and loans in the state and all of their ac- counts are insured by the Federal Savings and Loan In- surance Corporation (FSLIC). First Federal has also an- nounced that Joe B. Davis of Gastonia will be City Ex- ecutive over the Gastonia operations. Davis brings to First Federal over 30 years of savings and loan ex- perience. He is a Gastonia native and formerly worked with First Federal of Gastonia (now First American Federal) from 1955-1984. Davis feels that there is definitely a need ‘for another savings and loan in the Gastonia area, and looks forward to serving the people of Gaston County and especially his customers and friends that he has known over the years. Davis is a graduate of the school for Executive Development at the Universi- ty of Georgia and also has completed Graduate School of Savings and Loans at In- diana University. Davis is also a city councilman from Ward 2 and is com- pleting his third term in of- fice. He also served as Mayor Pro-Tem during his first term. He is on the Board of Directors of Schiele Museum and also a member of the Salvation Army Advisory Council. Executive Vice President Whitaker states that a site will be purchased and con- struction will begin as soon as approval is obtained.
