This project supports the 22 Shriners Hospitals for Crippled and Severely burned children. These hospitals have helped over 297,000 crippled and burn- ed children in their 61 years, who otherwise would have lived a life of disappointment, pain and isolation. Parents of these children have never paid one cent for the treatment received. The Shriners receive no local or national government funds to operate their hospitals. They depend on civic minded in- dividuals, businesses and companies to carry on their work. All contributions are tax deductible. As health care costs rise, this year is more important than ever, as they try to reach their $150 million budget, which includes $28 million for con- struction and equipment. These hospitals were designed and equipped for only one purpose—to help boys and girls up to age 18 regardless of race, creed or color; and the wonderful part of it is—it’s all free. Ask anyone who is a patient at the Greenville, S.C. hospital. They have helped many children right here in our town.
