AG Thursda ‘MR. AND MRS. MICHAEL SIMS (Jane Moss) Moss-Sims Couple Wed At Midview Baptist Church . Mr. and Mrs. Michael Dale Sims were wed Saturday, May 25th, at 4 p.m. Miss Priscilla Jane Moss became the bride of Mr. Sims in a Candlelight ceremony in Midview Baptist Church. Rev. Fred Wells officiated at the double‘ring ceremony which featured the lighting of “a Unity candle. Mr. and Mrs. - Sims were presented a white “Bible by Patricia Austin. Billy Mason was pianist and Saranan Humphries was soloist. ; The bride was escorted to the altar and given in mar- riage by her father, John Moss. Jack Sims served as his son’s best man. Maid of honor for the bride was Miss Debra’ Murray. Bridesmaids were her sisters, Tammy and Ginger Moss. Flower girl was Melissa Austin. John Murray was ringbearer. Kim Short greeted the guests at the register. The wedding reception was hosted by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Moss, in the fellowship building «of the church immediately follow- ing the ceremony. She is the granddaughter of W.T. and Mildred Gregory and Annie Moss, all of Kings Mountain. The bride is employed by Revco’s in Kings Mountain. Mr. Sims is the son of Jack and Virginia Sims of Kings Mountain. He is the grandson of Charlie and Reba Sims and Carol D. Rathbone, all of Turn To Page 2-B REGINA DIANE BELL ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCED—Mr. and Mrs. Bill Bell of Kings Mountain announce the engagement of their daughter, Regina Diane, to Vincent Lauton Haynes, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hoyle Haynes of Bessemer City. Miss Bell is a 1981 graduate of Kings Mountain Senior High School and a 1985 graduate of Appalachian State University where she received a degree in Psychology and Vocational Rehabilitation. She is employed by Gaston County Employment and Training. Mr. Haynes is a 1978 graduate of Bessemer City High School and is employed by Howell Masonry of Cherryville. A June 29 wed- ding is planned. MRS. JEFFREY FLOWERS (Brenda Berry) Berry-Flowers Couple Exchange Vows Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Franklin Flowers, who were wed Sunday, are on a wed- ding trip to the mountains of Western North Carolina and afterwards will be at home on Dixon Road. Miss Brenda Gail Berry became Mr. Flowers’ bride in a 3 p.m. candlelight wedding in Dixon Presbyterian Church. Dr. Olin Whitener of Dacatur, Ga., former minister of the church, was Wood, minister of the churct in officiating at the double- ring ceremony which featured the lighting of the Unity Candle by the couple and their mothers. : The altar of the church was banked with palms and ar- ranged with tree and brass candelabrum holding lighted tapers. Pink, white and burgundy flowers in two floor baskets enhanced the setting. The couple knelt for the benediction on a kneeling bench after lighting the Unity Candle. Douglas Hambright of Shelby was pianist for the program of nuptial music and vocal selections were by Ken- neth Brooks of Boiling Spr- ings who sang ‘Truly’ and “We've Only Just Begun’ before the ceremony and the benedictional ‘‘Lord’s Prayer.” William Thomas Berry escorted his daughter to the altar and gave her in mar- riage. The bride’s wedding gown was a formal design of white organza featuring a Queen Anne neckline with lace appliques on the full sleeves. The full skirt was bordered with Chantilly lace and enhanced by cascades of pleated ruffles with an overlay of lace ending with the hem of the cathedral train. Her fingertip veil of il- lusion was draped from a camelot cap and she wore a silver and pearl necklace, a gift from the bridegroom. She carried a nosegay of pink, burgundy and white roses. Miss Robin Flowers of Lat- timore, sister of the bridegroom, was maid of honor and bridesmaids were Mrs. Beverly Berry, sister- in-law of the bride, and Mrs. Debbie Berry, sister-in-law of the bride, both of Kings Mountain, and Janet Walker of Mooresboro, cousin of the bridegroom. All the attendants wore long formals of pink sheer enhanced by overlay of pink satin. The dresses were designed with puff sleeves. They wore flowers in their hair and carried nosegays of pink, white and burgundy 0ses. . eth Hubbard of Lat- 4 i Te ry timore, nephew of the bridegroom, was ringbearer. Flower girl was Ashley Cooper, cousin of the bridegroom, who was dress- ed as a miniature bride and wore a white gown with pink accents and pink flowers in her hair and carried a basket of rose petals. The bridegroom’s father was best man. Ushers were Tommy Berry and Charlie Berry, tain, b s Ly “of "the ‘bridegroom; and Roger “ Goforth of’ Kings Mountain, cousin of the bride. Junior ushers were Andy Berry of Kings Mountain, brother of the bride, and Dwayne Church of Lattimore, who lighted the altar candles. The bride’s mother chose a long formal in mauve with a corsage of white roses. The bridegroom’s mother chose a long grey formal with a white rosebud corsage. the bride’s grandmother, Mrs. S.T. Childers, chose a pink for- mal, as did Mrs. Virginia Church, the bridegroom’s stepgrandmother, and they wore white corsages. Mrs. Roger Goforth presid- ed at the bride’s register and wedding director was Mrs. Beth McDaniel. After the ceremony the bride’s parents entertained at a beautifully appointed reception in the church fellowship hall where the wedding colors of pink, white and burgundy were featured in decorative details and refreshments. The bride's table, highlight of decoration, was overlaid with a lace over burgundy cloth and held the three-tiered wedding cake as highlight. The pink, white and burgundy cake was top- ped with a bridal figurine and arranged with silk flowers. Punch was served from a’ silver service at one end of the table and party pickups wer served from silver ap- pointments. The tablecloth was caught up with pink and white bows and centered with an arrangement of pink candles and pink, white and burgundy flowers. Assisting in serving refreshments were Mrs. Alda Faye Childers, Mrs. Margaret Childers, aunts of ‘ the bride, Mrs. Ivey Walker, Mrs. Earlene Stevens and Mrs. Vernia Page, aunts of the bridegroom. "Mr. and Mrs. William Thomas Berry of the Dixon Community are parents of the bride who is a graduate of Kings Mountain Senior High School and a recent graduate of Cleveland Technical Col- lege. She is employed as a Turn To Page 2-B MRS. THOMAS RANDALL BURRESS (Denise Darcel McSwain) McSwain-Burress Couple Exchange Marriage Vows Mt. Zion Baptist Church was the setting Saturday, May 18, for the 3:00 p.m. wed- ding of Denise Darcel McS- wain and Thomas Randall Burress. Rev. Robert Bynard of Somerset Baptist Church, Roxboro, N.C. heard the cou- ple exchange vows. Miss Sandy Brady was pianist and the groom was vocalist. The bride, given in mar- riage, by her father, wore a long white . gown of satin featuring "a sweetheart" neckline and short puffed sleeves. = The natural waistline was finished with a satin belt that came to a bow in the back. The fitted bodice was covered in peau d’ange lace. The front has cascades of ruffles with satin over peau d’ange lace which extended to the back and into a full Cathedral length train. The bride chose a bridal hat that was covered in peau d’ange lace, silk flowers and seed pearls that featured a puff of illusion in the back that fell to fingertip length veiling. The bride carried a cascade of white sweetheart roses, stepanotis and babys breath. Mrs. Robin Justice, sister ‘of the bride, was Matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Kristi McSwain sister of the bride, Lisa McSwain of Cherryville, Kathy Baynard, Heidi Baynard, Sheila Lunsford, and Rosie Burress, sister of the groom, all of Roxboro, N.C. The miniature bride was Keisha Childers of Cher- ryville and the miniature groom was Marc Ford of Asheville, N.C. Laura Ford of Cherryville was flower girl and David Hendrick of Kings Mountain was ringbearer. Jim Burress was his son’s best man. Ushers were Marc Sigmon, Lee McSwain, and Jamie McSwain, brother of the bride, all of Cherryville, Clark Young, Donald O’Dell of Roxboro and Jeff Ford of Asheville. The bride’s mother wore a floor length gown of lavender chiffon with a high neckline. After a wedding trip, the couple will live in Roxboro. The bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David McSwain, Sr. of Cherryville, graduated from Cherryville High School and attends American Business College of Charlotte. The bridegroom, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Burress of Rox- boro, graduated from Person Senior High School and Pied- mont Tech. College. He is self-employed as a piano technician. CAKE CUTTING Mr. and Mrs. David McS- wain honored their daughter, Denise, and Thomas Burress, with a lovely cake cutting on May 17. The bride-elect wore a tea length dress of silver gray while the groom-elect wore a silver gray coat and lavender slacks. Wedding cake, groom's cake, and party pick ups were served. On Thursday, April 25, Denise, McSwain, bride-elect of Randal Burress, was honored with a Lingerie Shower at Club Carolina. Upon arrival Denise was presented with a beautiful corsage of babys breath silk daisies to compliment her peach colored outfit. Guests were welcomed by Little Miss Keisha Childers and Little Miss Laura Ford of Cherryville and asked to sign the register. A variety of refreshments were served from a white and lavender covered table. A centerpiece of pink and lavender carnations with babys breath adorned the table. Hostesses for the event were Miss Kristi McSwain, Shower Honors Y vette Miss Yvette Roberts, bride- elect of David Cooke was honored with a miscellaneous shower on Sunday, June 2 at the First Baptist Church fellowship hall. The refreshment table was covered with a pink cloth and decorated with pink candles, ivy and a fresh cut flower ar- rangement of snapdragons, heather and baby’s breath. Cake squares, cheese straws, nuts and punch were served to the 35 people who called between the hours of 2:30 and 4 p.m. to shower Yvette with gifts for her new home. Special guests included Mrs. Phyllis Roberts, mother of the bride-elect, Mrs. Lillian Henderson, maternal grandmother of the bride- elect and Mrs. Louise Roberts, paternal grand- mother of the bride-elect. Hostesses for the event were Mrs. Becky Cook, Mrs. Pam Jackson, Mrs: Linda Peeler, Mrs. Lisa Ramey and Mrs. Mikie Smith. Yvette and David will be married June 22 at First Bap- tist Church. £20010 id
