Page 2B-KINGS MOUNTAIN HERALD-Thursday, June 13, 1985 PAIGE COLVI MISTY COLVIN Paige, Misty Colvin Win Beauty Titles Paige and Misty Colvin, daughters of Mr.and Mrs. Jimmy Colvin of Bessemer City, have won trophies in a number of beauty pageants. They competed in America’s Global Miss Beau- ty Pageant in Hickory on Sat., May 18th, and the Miss Summer Sweetheart Beauty Pageant in Winston-Salem on Sat., May 25th. In America’s Global Miss Beauty Pageant Paige was selected first runner up in her division. Miss Sun Miss and Misty was selected as second runner up in her division, “Miss Young Miss.” In the Summer Sweetheart Beauty Pageant Paige was selected second runner-up and Misty was selected third runner-up. All the con- testants in the Summer Sweetheart Beauty Pageant were escorted by the Oakridge Military Academy Cadets. Paige is a seventh grader at Bessemer City Junior High and is 13 years old. Misty is a fourth grader at Bessemer City Junior High and is nine years old. Paige and Misty are grand- daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Colvin of Bessemer Ci- ty and Mr. and Mrs. George Nolen of Kings Mountain. Their great-grandmother is Mrs. Ivy Roper of Kings Mountain. Paige and Misty would like to thank all their sponsors for sponsoring them in the pageant. Rehearsal Party Honors Brenda Berry, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Flowers of Lattimore enter- tained Saturday evening at Dixon Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall at a rehear- sal party honoring their son, Jeff Flowers, and his bride- to-be, Brenda Berry. : The bride-elect and the bridegroom-to-be took the oc- Jeff Flowers casion to present their gifts to their wedding attendants. Party refreshments, in- cluding a chocolate groom’s cake, were served to members of the two families and wedding pay Pink and white flowers and the wedding colors were used in decorative details. Barbecue At Mauneys Honor Susan And Bob A Barbecue honoring Susan Beard and Bob Maner, whose wedding takes place June 30th, was held recently at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Mauney. Moss-Sims Pair Wed From Page 1-B ~ Kings Mountain. A 1983 * graduate of Kings Mountain Senior High School, he is employed by WinnDixie of Kings Mountain. After a wedding trip to the mountains, the newlyweds oro at home in Kings Moun- in. Entertaining with the Mauneys were Mr. and Mrs. L.E. Hinnant, Mr. and Mrs. Joe A. Neisler, Mr. and Mrs. John O. Plonk, Mrs. Fran Sin- cox, Mr. and Mrs. R.O. Southwell and Mr. and Mrs. George Thomasson. Geraniums and roses decorated patio and pool tables set up around the pool where dinner was served. Present as special guests were parents of the engaged pair, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Martin of Shelby and Mr. and Mrs. B.F. Maner of Kings Mountain. the host couples took the oc- casion to present their wed- ding gift to the bride-elect and bridegroom-to-be. Lingerie Shower Honors Bride-Elect Susan Beard Susan Martin Beard, whose wedding to Bob Maner of Kings Mountain takes place June 30th, was honored last Sunday at a lingerie shower at the home of Miss Carol Hambright in Shelby. Entertaining - with Miss Hambright were Miss Dawn Hambright and Mrs. Harriett McDaniel. The 20 guests showered the bride-to-be with trousseau gifts. / Summer flowers decorated the refreshment table from which punch and party pickups were served. The bride-elect was presented a corsage of yellow daisies from the hostesses and their wedding gifts. Present as a special guest was Mrs. Charles Martin of Shelby, mother of the bride- elect. Brenda Berry Honored At Shower In Lattimore The bridegroom’s aunts entertained recently in Lat- timore at a bridal shower honoring Miss Brenda Berry, whose wedding to Jeff Flowers of Lattimore, took place Sunday afternoon in Dixon Presbyterian Church. The 30 guests showered the engaged pair with gifts for their new home. Party pickups were served from a white and yellow decorated table. Miss Berry was presented a corsage of yellow roses which she pinn- / 4 ed to the shoulder of her par- ty dress. Present as special guests were Mrs. Tom Berry of Kings Mountain, mother of the bride-elect; Mrs. Kenneth Flowers, mother of the bridegroom-to-be; and Mrs. Virginia Church of Shelby, step-grandmother of the bridegroom-to-be. Party hostesses were Mrs. Ivy Walker, Mrs. Delores Church, Mrs. Vernia Page, Mrs. Earlene Stephens and Mrs. Betty. Church. Mrs. Propst Selected Vickie T. Propst has been accepted at Harvard Univer- sity Graduate School of Education to attend the In- stitute for the Management of Lifelong Education. She will be among seventy-five in- dividuals selected from na- tional nominees to attend an intensive residential pro- gram emphasizing the design | and implementation of train- ing programs. Mrs. Propst, who has held various titles since 1976 at Spartanburg Technical Col- lege, is currently Dean of Continuing Education. She has designed programs in Marketing, Professional Development, Entrepreneur- ship and some 107 technical programs. She was previous- ly a corporate buyer for Ivey’s of the Carolinas. Shower Honors Y vette Miss Yvette Roberts, bride- elect of David Cooke, was honored with a lingerie shower Sunday, June 9, at the home of Brenda and Toni Ross. All the wedding attendants called between 2:00 and 4:00 and showered Miss Roberts with beautiful lingerie. Upon her arrival Miss Roberts was presented a corsage of white daisies to pin to her blue par- ty dress. Lavender and purple helium balloons and a lavender bow served as a centerpiece for the refresh- ment table. Pound cake, roasted pecans, cheese straws, strawberries, and colas were served from silver appointments. Ms. Roberts and Mr. Cooke will be married on June 22. He is a 1980 graduate of Crest Senior High School and attended Liberty Baptist College where he majored in music. He is employed in the Shipp- ing Department of Cleveland Memorial Hospital in Shelby.
