Mr. and Mrs. W. Eugene McCarter and their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Billy McCarter of Charlotte, entertained together Saturday night at an elegant dinner party at the McCarter home here on Cres- cent Circle honoring Laura Herndon and Chip McGill. The wedding of Miss Hern- don and Mr. McGill will take place June 29 in Kings Moun- tain Baptist Church. : A three course dinner was served to 15 guests at tables appointed in white linen and silver appointments in the dining room and living room decorated in the wedding col- ors of peach and white. Peach Enchantment lilies, baby’s breath and daisies in a silver bowl centered the bride’s table which was enhanced by lighted tapers. Small tables were also covered in linen cutwork cloth and centered with peach flowers and candles. Present as special guests were Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Herndon, parents of the MR. AND MRS. GORDON D. MYERS ...Celebrate Golden Wedding Day ‘Mr. And Mrs. Gordon Myers Honored On Anniversary McCarters Host Party ‘For Laura And Chip bride-elect; Mrs. W. Lawrence Logan, grand- mother of the bride-elect; and Mr. and Mrs. Norman F., McGill, Jr., parents of the bridegroom-to-be. The host couples took the occasion to present their wed- ding gift, a crystal compote, to the engaged pair. Miss Herndon was" also given a corsage of peach Enchant- ment lilies to wear with her party dress. - Man Faces Murder Charge Roy Ernest Preston, 49, of Pagan Road, was arrested early Saturday morning and charged with murder in the shooting death of Robert Mit- chell (Bobby) Carpenter, of Lyon’s Trailer Park. Myers hosted a reception at the First Bap- tist Church of Grover on Sun- day, June 9th, in honor of their parents Golden Wed- ding Anniversary. The couple was married in St. -Mary’s, West Virginia June 8, 1935. The tables were draped with candlelight ruffled tablecloths. The anniversary cake was four tiers with a gold bride and bridegroom, the top tier decorated with yellow roses, daisies, mums and baby’s breath. The refreshment table was decorated with a gold candelabra adorned with yellow daisies, roses, mums, baby’s breath and greenery with ‘yellow tapers. The guests were served a variety of refreshments. Baskets of ferns.and palms were used. throughout the ‘receiving room and music was provided by Mrs. Gilmore Byers. Receiving guests were Mrs. Beck Wright, the and honorees, Mr. and Mrs. Gor- don D. Myers, Sr., Mrs. David Middlebrooks, Jr., their daughter, Mrs. S.L. Basinger, their daughter, and Mrs. Jeanne McMillen, a sister. Hostesses included Bonnie Basinger, granddaughter of the couple who registered guests and handed out little scrolls and friends of the cou- ple including Mrs. Hood Wat- terson, Mrs. Arthur Davis, Mrs. Jo Ann Hambright, Mrs. Christine Morrison, and Ms. Nelda Fisher.
