Ms. James organized the clogging groups four years ago and works with them on a volunteer basis. The after-school program includes over 60 children from the system’s five elementary schools. Frank R. Burger Wins 17-0 Kings Mountain Number Three (Frank R. Burger) lost two of its three games in 13-year-old Babe Ruth Prep League action during the past week. The local team fell to Gastonia 15-5 Thursday in a game plagued by errors, bounced back Saturday with a 17-0 win over Kings Moun- tain Number One and then lost an 8-7 heartbreaker to BB&T of Gastonia Tuesday night. Chris Moore had three singles and Jonathan Hicks singled in last week’s loss to Gardner-Webb Pool Is Open To The Public The Gardner-Webb College pool has officially opened for the summer season for public swimming. The pool is open each day from 1-5 p.m. Admission is 75 cents for children and $1.25 for adults 15 years and older. Individual passes for the en- tire summer can be purchas- ed for $25 and family passes [For Dad... are $35. Pool parties for churches and other groups should be scheduled at least a week in advance. Rodney Ross came on in the fifth and gave up only one hit and struck out the side. The game was called after the fifth on the 10-run rule. Bruce hit a grand-slam homer, Jason Hughes had two singles, Steve Robbins three doubles and a single, Sky a double, Moore a single, Tony Young a single and Hicks two singles and a dou- ble to lead the Frank R. Burger attack. Frank R. Burger rallied from a 3-1 deficit to take a 5-3 lead Tuesday against BB&T but BB&T came back to win in the bottom of the seventh. Camp announce the ar- rival of their first child, a son, Ahmod Jaron Camp, May 28th, Gaston Memorial Hospital. The baby weighed eight pounds and is grandson of Mrs. Maggie Peterson of Grover and Mrs. Mabel Mar- tin of Newark, N.J. He is great-grandson of Hamp and Arthelina Austin of Greensboro. Mrs. Camp is the former Sharon Martin. : Brandon Celebrates Birthday Brandon Hart, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Hart, will celebrate his first birthday June 16th. A family party will be held at his home and a birthday cake will be cut and served with party refreshments to family and friends. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. David Tapish of Gastonia and Mr. and Mrs. Thurmond Peterson of Kings Mountain. B.B. Secrest will be in con- cert July 26th at B.N. Barnes Auditorium for benefit of American Legion Post 155 community projects. Area businesses will be contacted this week by American Legion officials asking their Subpart of a con- cert program through adver- tisements. Post 155 presented this year for the first time a $750 college scholarship to Lisa Buchanan, KMSHS senior, and annually supports the Empty Stocking Fund and other projects including sup- rt of veterans and their amilies. In addition, Post 155 is sponsoring four young men at Tar Heel Boys State under- way this week at Wake Forest University, American Legion citizenship awards, a Little League baseball team and fully supports the White Plains Shrine Club.
