A native of Hopewell, Virginia, he earned his BA and MD degrees from the University of Virginia and interned at the Greenville Hospital System, Greenville, South Carolina. He currently lives at Moss Lake in Kings Moun- tain. Early next year, however, he plans to return to residency training in emergency. medicine and hopes to spend his career working in a large trauma center. “Emergency medicine is both exciting and frustrating,” said Dr. Leake. “We are trained to stabalize the acutely ill patient, acci- dent victim or trauma case but we often spend time see- ing patients with headaches and sore throats. With all the good family doctors here in town, I think it’s very impor: tant for people to remember, , for any medical need, they should call their family physician first and come to the emergency room only if directed to or if the family physician is not available. Roger Miller, of Route 2, Portal, Ga., operating a 1984 Toyota on York Road, told ci- ty officers he fell asleep at the wheel and his car struck a city utility pole. Officers of the Kings Mountain Police Department said Miller was taken to the KM Hospital and treated for injuries. No injuries were reported in several other automobile wrecks in the city during the _ past week. An unknown vehicle struck a parked car belonging to Johnny Wallace in the park- ing lot of Pine Manor Apart-. ments. Damages to the 1975 Chevrolet were estimated at $200. George Thomas, 513 N. Sims St., told Captain Bob Hayes he suffered a seizure at the wheel of his 1977 Plymouth and hit a culvert doing $900 to his car. Charles Herndon, Route 2, operating a 1979 Ford on West Gold Street, struck a 1986 Chevrolet operated by Donna Martin, Route 1, Grover, which was damaged $300. Bruce Barber, of Charlotte, operating a 1985 Nissan which was damaged $875, struck a 1972 Pontiac operated by Michael Stroupe, of Route 5, which was damag- ed $1,000. A 1975 Plymouth operated by Patrick James, 405 Trac St., struck a 1976 Plymouth operated by Betty Jenkins, No. 7 Carolina Gardens which was damaged $150. Ricky Ramsey, 204 Ben- field Road, operating a 1971 Toyota, struck a 1980 Buick . operated by Rodney Short of N. Piedmont Ave. which was damaged $150. In Musical Two West School sixth graders, Jada Brown and Heather Melton, are among a cast of 60 in the musical ‘‘An- ‘nie’, which the Cherryville Little Theatre presents on Friday and Saturday even- ings at 8 p.m. and Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the theatre on West Academy Street. Admission is $3 adults and $2 senior citizens and students. Miss Brown is the daughter of Mike and Cindy Brown and Miss Melton is the daughter of Teresa and Jim Melton.
