Tor cama 3 | fF | io —-_ Magician To Perform At Bethware Fair The annual Bethware Fair will be held September 1-6 on the grounds of Bethware Elementary School in Kings Mountain. The event, sponsored by the Bethware Progressive Club, raises funds for sehool and community activities. The fair will open at 6 p.m. each evening, Monday through Friday, and at 3 p.m. on Saturday. The event will feature rides for children of all ages, good food, games, drawings for prizes, music, and a large variety of exhibits in the school gymnasium. An added feature of this year’s fair will be the ap- pearance of master magician Bill McLaury, who will give his performance on Thurs., Sept. 4. McLaury says that ‘“‘the smarter you are, the easier it is to fool you,” so he’s looking for some of the smartest people in the Kings Mountain area to attend his show. McLaury contends that a trained mind will quickly follow the suggestions of an experienced magician, while those of a slower mind will not be able to function as rapidly and so is not taken in by the deception. McLaury says he would mutch rather perform for col- lege professors and professional people than children as it requires less attention to close detail in order to fool them. “If you want to know how all of McLaury’s illusions are done, the best thing to do is come to see the show, act as dumb as you can, and you will catch on,” said Sry Crotts of the sponsoring Bethware Progressive ub. Whether you are fooled or not, McLaury promises you will be entertained as one surprise follows another, with never a dull moment. McLaury’s many years as a \ Baseball Clinic Saturday Johnny Lipon, former Ma- jor Leaguer with the Detroit Tiger, will be in Kings Moun- tain Saturday morning to conduct a free baseball clinic, for all interested ball players, at 9:30 a.m. at Com- missioners Park Baseball Complex.
