LOIS NIVENS Funeral services for Lois Smith Nivens, 75, of 813 W. Gold St., who died Monday in Kings Mountain Convales- cent Center, will be con- ducted Thursday afternoon at 3 p.m. from Harris Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Tim Spencer and Rev. Dale Thornburg will of- ficiate, and interment will be in Mountain Rest Cemetery. Mrs. Nivens was a native of Alexander County, daughter of the late John and Julie Smith. She was widow of Banks Nivens and a member of East Side Baptist Church. She is survived by her niece, Mrs. Helen Whetstine, of Kings Mountain. The family will receive friends Wednesday night OBITURRIES Jettie Green Leigh of Shelby and the late Hudson Leigh. Also surviving are her hus- band, Noble O. Evans; three sons, Jack Evans of Blacksburg, S.C., and Jerry Evans and George Evans of Grover; a daughter, Marie Galloway of Shelby; a brother, John Lee Leigh of Lawndale; two sisters, Ruby Scism and Jessie Poole of Shelby; 10 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Jessie Lee Perry, Sr., 73, of 213 McGill Court, who died Sun- day in the Kings Mountain Hospital were conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. from David Baptist Church by A Lincoln County native, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Perry. He was retired from Elmer Lumber Co. and a member of David Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Sylvia Jane Hullender Perry; a son, Jessie Lee Perry, Jr. of Kings Mountain; a daughter, ‘Juanita Carroll of Kings Mountain; a sister, Ada Price of Newton; 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Harris Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. ESTHER JOANN GUIN Funeral services for Esther JoAnn Guin, 50, of 410 W. Indiana Ave., Bessemer City, who died Sunday, were conducted Wednesday morn- ing at 11 o'clock from the Rev. Reg ie Huntley of- ficiated at the rites and inter- ment was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. Mrs. Guin, a native of Ot- tawa, Kansas, was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Nelson. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and served on the executive board for the Republican Party of Gaston County.
