Cline celebrated their Golden Wed- ding Day Saturday at an an- niversary reception hosted by their six children, 22 grandchildren and 20 great- grandchildren at Kings Mountain Depot Center. Hosts were Ray and Joyce Howell, Harold and Dixie Blanton, and Peggy Cline Wells, all of Kings Mountain, Ralph and Odus Cline of Gstonia, Carol Ray and Doris Cline of Springfield, Va. and Larry and Katherine Cline of Griffin, Ga. Over 125 guests called bet- ween 2 and 5 p.m. Mr. and Mrs. Scott Howell greeted guests and Mike Blanton and Janice Langley said goodbyes. April and champagne punch, vegetables and dip, potato chips, nuts and butter mints. The golden anniversary theme of yellow and gold and white featured decorative details. White lace cloths overlaid the refreshment tables which were caught up with gold bows and arranged with yellow and white roses in brass vases and brass candelabras holding white tapers. The three tier an- niversary cake, pightlignt of decoration, was toppe with yellow roses and white daisies and encircled at the base with fresh yellow daisies. A champagne punch fountain centered the refreshment table from which party refreshments were served from silver trays. Out-of-town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Warren Sanford of Springfield, Va., Mr. and Mrs. Doug Cline of Fredericksburg, Va., Chief Petty Officer Chris Blanton and family of Buffalo, New York, and Mr. and Mrs. Bud Walker of Granite City, II- linois. After the reception, The Cline family enjoyed a cookout at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Blanton. : Ray W. Cline and Lib Huff- stickler were married Sept. 26, 1936 in York, S.C. Long ac- tive in community affairs, they are members of St. Mat- thew’s Lutheran Church and It’s A Girl For Glenns Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Glenn of Kings Mountain announce the arrival of their daughter, Carey Elizabeth, August 18, Cleveland Memorial Hospital. The baby weighed seven pounds, eight ounces. Other members of the family is Kristin, age five. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. James Homesley of Kings Mountain and Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Glenn, Jr. of Cherryville. Mr. Cline is a former city commissioner, also active in the American Legion, VFW and Moose Lodge in addition to church and civic activities. The Clines reside on Falls Street. Tri-City Record, a weekly newspaper covering the Gaston County towns of Bessemer City, Stanley and Dallas, will publish its first edition next week. A combination of The Bessemer City Record and Stanley News, owned by Herald Publishing Company of Kings Mountain, the week- ly newspaper will be expand- ed to include the neighboring town of Dallas. Lois Smith, veteran editor of the Bessemer City Record, will continue as editor. ~ “Residents of Dallas have expressed their desire to have a weekly newspaper devoted to news and events of Dallas and working together in a tri-city combination we can make the Tri City Record a newspaper the three cities can be proud of’, said General Manager Darrell Austin. Austin said that Dallas readers will be able to turn in their news and pictures to Dub Rankin at Dallas Loan Office, 132 North Gaston Street. Mrs. Smith said that she. welcomes news from all three cities and asks residents of Bessemer City, Dallas and Stanley to call her to report their news and hap- penings from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Mondays through Fridays at 629-2654. ‘We want to tell others what peo- ple in Dallas, Bessemer City and Stanley are doing, their ian accomplishments, their plans, their community ser- vice projects, their church events, and we want our readers to feel that our Tri Ci- ty newspaper is their paper, a weekly filled with news about them, their families, their churches, their schools, their community’’, said Mrs. Smith. Austin said that by combin- ing the two existing Gaston County newspapers and ad- ding Dallas, that Herald Publishing will be in a better position to serve readers and advertisers. ‘‘More personnel will enable us to give wider coverage to sports and com- munity events. More photos can be used and more up-to- date accounts of news events reported,” said Austin. The Bessemer City Record has been published since 1957. The Stanley News has been published since 1981.
