Vocational students will celebrate Vocational Educa- tion Week next week in special activities beginning with open house Sunday afternoon at the high school to which the public is invited. Open House To Kick Off Vocational Education Week An open house Sunday afternoon from 2 until 4 p.m. at Kings Mountain Senior High School will kick-off the week celebration of Voca- tional Education Week in KM District Schools. Using the nationwide theme, ‘Building America’s Future” some 1,044 students in the vocational education program will show displays to the interested public and lead guided tours of the voca- tional department at the local high school. Vocational education is offered to students in grades 7-12 at Cen- tral School, KM Junior High and KM Senior High Schools and all 850 KMSHS students have the opportunity to par- Open House Set At Eye Clinic Kings Mountain Eye Clinic Vision Lab will hold open house at 510 West King Street Sunday afternoon from 2 until 4 p.m. Kings Mountain area citizens are invited to inspect and tour the new facility and see the newest equipment for eye care as well as a large selection of eyeglass frames and styles. Dr. David McDaniel, owner, and Mrs. McDaniel will greet visitors and will be assisted by members of the staff in conducting the tour and serving refreshments. Retired To Meet Cleveland County Chapter 3488 of the American Associa- tion of Retired Persons (AARP) will meet Wed., Feb. 11 at 11 a.m. at the Senior Center, 408 E. Marion St., Shelby. A senior, Morrow is the son of Clyde E. and Marie Mor- row of Kings Mountain. To qualify for the Dean’s List, a student must maintain a 3.2 quality point average with no grade lower than a C if he is enrolled in 15 or more hours of letter grade credit; or maintain a 3.5 quality point average with no grade lower than a C if he is enroll- ed in at least 12 but fewer than 15 hours of letter grade credit. Sisk of Shelby, a teacher at Kings Mountain High School, was one of 18 teachers selected from across the state to participate in a five-day seminar at the North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching at Western Carolina University. Sisk attended a seminar held Jan. 20-24 titled, ‘To the Stars: Humans in the Cosmos,” led by Dr. Walter Oldendorf, Center Fellow; Dr. James Trefil, professor of physics at the University of Virginia; Dr. Stephen Reynolds, assistant professor of physics, N.C. State Univer- sity; Carolyn McPherson, chemistry instructor at Western Carolina Universi- ty; and Dwight Moses, a math and science teacher at Sylva-Webster High School. Sisk has a bachelor’s degree from Limestone Col- lege, and a master’s degree from Winthrop College. The N.C.
