Page 10B-KINGS MOUNTAIN HERALD-Wednesday, February 4, 1987 Film Series Slated At Boyce Memorial The ‘Turn Your Heart Toward Home’ film series will be shown at Boyce ‘Memorial ARP Church. The Pastor, Bill Tyson, said that the church wished to invite any members of the com- munity who wished to benefit from the counsel and advice of one of America’s leading authorities on the family. The films will be shown in the Fellowship Hall at 7:00 p.m. Sunday evenings according to the following schedule: Feb. 8 A Father Looks Back—dealing with a father’s role during the all-important childhood years Feb. 15 Power in Paren- ting: The Young Child Feb. 22 Power in Paren- ting: The Adolescent Mar. 8 The Family Under Fire—dealing with issues af- fecting the family in today’s society Mar. 29 Overcoming a Painful Childhood includes Shirley Dobson’s memories of a difficult childhood with her alcoholic father, and the influences that brought her to a loving God. Apr. 12 The Heritage—speaks of four traditional values which can help assure happy and healthy homes. PD Taking Applications The Kings Mountain Police Department will be taking applications for the position of Patrolman for one day on- ly. Applications will be ac- cepted from 9 A.M. until 12 Noon and from 1 P.M. until 5 P.M. on Tuesday, February 10, at the Police Department. The following six minimum standards will be applied for initial screening of ap- plicants. High School Graduate or GED. Be at Least 21 years of age. Be at least 5 feet 7 inches tall for males and 5 feet 4 in- ches tall for females. Weigh at least 140 pounds for males and 110 pounds for females. Weight and Height should be proportionate. Must possess 20/100 uncor- rected vision, corrected to 20/20. Possess normal hearing determined by an audiometric hearing test. Spring Fashion Tuesday A Spring fashion show featuring clothing from Southern Lady of Gastonia will feature the program at the annual banquet Tuesday, Feb. 10th, of the Kings Moun- tain Country Club Women’s Golf and Tennis Association at the clubhouse. Narrator for the fashion show will be Beverly Lineberger of Gastonia. Mrs. H. O. Williams has ar- ranged the program. Highlight of the evening will be the presentation of awards to outstanding golfers. Mrs. Stonewall Jackson, club president, will preside. Reservations for dinner may be made by calling the club pro shop or contacting Mrs. Williams. The banquet will begin with a social half-hour at 6:30 p.m. with the banquet to follow. All members are invited to participate, said Mrs. Williams. Jimmy Hines, principal at Boiling Springs Elementary School and a former health education coordinator for Cleveland County schools, and Mrs. Dianne Whisnant, the present health education coordinator for Cleveland County schools, will be pre- sent to discuss topics such as guidelines for check-ups and self-examination. All hearing impaired per- sons from Cleveland, Ruther- ford, and Burke counties are invited to attend this free workshop.
