~ = Two Charged With Larceny Kings Mountain police ar- rested Donnie Eugene Greason, 18, of 209 Linwood Road, and Robert Lewis Pilgrim, 206 Margaret Street, in connection with the break- in and larceny of $2429 worth of music and office equip- ment from Second Baptist Church on Linwood Road. The merchandise, recovered by police, included a sound system with two speakers, reel-to-reel tape player, radio-tape recorder, tape deck and Sharpe adding machine. ; First appearance court hearing was Tuesday. Police, assisted by the Newton Highway Patrol, recovered a 1979 white Oldsmobile stolen from the driveway of Rufus S. Oates, 700 East King. Tires and wheels were missing from the car when it was found on Mountain Vernon Church Road off N.C. 27. Other incidents reported to KMPD included: Greg Moore, 313 Pinehurst Drive, reported that a bicycle valued at $200 was taken from his carport. Dana Bright Heath, 802 Princeton Drive, reported larceny of a Sharpe VCR valued at $300. Victoria Annette Adams, 1510 Northwoods Drive, reported harrassing phone calls. Woman Escapes Injury Patricia Hager Wise of 703 Sterling Drive escaped injury Sunday morning when she drove her carr off the Moss Lake ramp and it was air- borne for 30 feet before lan- ding in 10 feet of water. Police said the accident oc- curred at 8:49 a.m. Police said Mrs. Wise got out of the water and went to a neighbor’s house for assistance. The 1984 Chevrolet was damaged $3500. Other accidents reported by police included: A 1981 Chevrolet truck operated by Robert Davies, 417 Scotland Drive, bumped a parked 1985 Nissan in the parking lot of Harris Teeter, doing $1,000 damage to a vehicle owned by Tina Whitaker Haynes, and no damage to the Davies vehi- cle. A stalled 1980 Chevrolet was struck on Phifer Road by a 1980 Olds operated by Zula Tuft Deese of Route 4, doing $150 damage to the Chevrolet. The stalled vehicle was own- ed by Brian Mitchell Morris of 515 Monroe Avenue. Backing hs 1977 Chevrolet from a driveway on South Cherokee Street, Tracy Darnette Brooks of Dewey Road, Ga., struck a 1988 Chevrolet operated by Larry Yarbro Jr. of Boyce Street. Damage was $400. Willie D. A 1976 Pontiac SW was struck in the rear by a 1982 Ford operated by Carl Dean Wade on Cleveland doing a total of $60 damage. Wade was cited for following too closely. The accident involv- ed a 1976 Pontiac SW operated by Audrey Dickey Brown of Bessemer City. Wade was also cited for im- proper brakes. Mary Williams Howell, driving a 1979 International truck owned by A.V. Dedmon Trucking, backed from a parking place on Bat- tleground Avenue and into a 1978 Chevrolet owned by Robert C. Shell, doing $200 damage. Howell was charge with driving after license revoked. A driverless car, which had been left running and in gear, crossed a parking lot at Peggy’s Restaurant and hit a car operated by Tony Efird McSwain of Cherryville, do- ing $800 damage. The other car was owned by Lloyd Christopher Short of 701 Lan- ding Street. Mustang Service Station, 607 East King, reported the theft of money from a game machine and cash register and two cases of beer valued at $76.76. Bob Carswell, 502 Deerfield Drive, reported someone took a fuzzbuster valued at $200 from the dashboard of his car. J.B. Johnson, 50 Landmark Apartments, reported so- meone took a .22 calibre Savage automatic rifle from his home. Jimmy Johnson, 1207 Suzanne Street, reported that a car speaker valued at $165 was stolen from his automobile. Little Moo Restaurant, 201 York Road, reported that so- meone ripped a bubblegum machine from its base and stole some napkin holders. Total value was $75. Police arrested the follow- ing during the past week: Robert Wayne Melton, 32, East King Street, DWI and left of center. Trial date is Feb. 17. Donna Jean Welch, 1645 Hamrick Road, Shelby, im- proper registration and no in- surance. Dennis M. Varnadore, 18, 22 Bennett Drive, giving false information when questioned by police. Jimmy Ray Dellinger, 33, 108 Stowe Acres, criminal summons for larceny. Police said Dellinger came to the police station to be served.
