SHEILA LOUISE CHERRY ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCED -- The engagement of Sheila Louise Cherry to David Kish Hambright is announced by her parents Leonard Ray Cherry Sr. of Belmont and Margaret Davis Cherry of Catawba Heights. She is a graduate of East Gaston High School and Central Piedmont Community Col- lege, Charlotte, and is employed by Larry R. Holt, D.D.S. of Hickory. David is the son of Hillard Kish and Phyllis Ham- bright of Kings Mountain. He is a graduate of Kings Mountain High School and N. C. State University where he was a member of Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity. He is employed by First Citizens Bank in Raleigh and is currently serving as a captain in the N.C. Army National Guard. The couple plans a March 26 wedding. Luncheon Given For Ann Davis Ann Davis, bride-elect of Billy Eldridge, was honored at a bridal luncheon Saturday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Kerns. Hostesses were Mrs. Faye Kerns, Mrs. Lisa Ramey and Mrs. Penny An- thony. Upon arrival, Miss Davis was presented a corsgae of red carnations and white baby’s breath. The dining room was elegantly decorated in festive red and white. Each table had a centerpiece of red carnations and white zinnias. Red tapered candles accented the centerpiece arrangements. Guests were served mulled cider and nuts as horsdouvres. The meal con- sisted of a conealed strawberry salad, broccoli with cheese sauce, the wav is coming Page 2B-KINGS MOUNTAIN HERALD-Wednesday, February 10, 1988 Jim Champion is the direc- tor and Lynn Echols the musical director for the up- coming play ‘The Velveteen Rabbit” to be presented at Central School March 3-6. Thirty six children and five adults are in the play. Champion has been active in Kings Mountain Little Theatre since 1970. He is its former president and he has worked, either as an actor, director, or in set design or construction in almost every Shelby High School will present the award-winning Broadway musical ‘‘The Wiz’ March 10-12 at 8 p.m. in Brown Auditorium on the school campus. “The Wiz’’ won seven Tony awards in 1975, including best musical, and played for over two years. The Shelby High version will feature a cast, crew, chorus, and orchestra of over 70 students who will rehearse for six weeks before the opening. Shelby senior Kim Harris will play the leading role of Dorothy, with Rodney Leigh as the Tinman, Curtis Glenn as the Scarecrow, Lonnie Tucker as the Cowardly Lion, and Stephen Johnson as The Wiz. Other major roles in- clude Kim Benjamin as Aunt Em, Annette Benjamin as Addaperle, Margaret Tally as Evillene, and Waynette Gladden as Glinda. “The Wiz’ will involve a variety of performing art students under the direction of Kerry Maher. Musical Coordinator is Michael Sisk, with vocal direction by Traci wi southerwester risotto, and chicken salad casserole. Yeast rolls accompanied the meal. Cherries Jubilee was served as dessert. After enjoying lunch together, the hostesses presented Ann with kitchen linens and a gift in her chosen stainless pattern. Other guests also showered her with kitchen linens. Special guests included the bride-elect’s mother, Mrs. Kay Davis, and her sister, Pat. At KMLT, Champion has directed ‘Finishing Touches’’, ‘‘Mousetrap’’, “Whodunit”’, and ‘A Murder Is Announced.” He has acted in “Harvey”, ‘Bus Stop’, “Blythe Spirit”, “Ten Little Indians” and ‘‘The Golden Grotto.” Champion is married to the former Kris Humphries and they have a four-year-old daughter, Sara. He is Eaves, orchestra direction by Edward Allison, choreography by Terri Byers and Waynette Gladden, technical direction by Rick employed as Quality Control Supervisor at KMG Minerals. Mrs. Echols is a graduate of Appalachian State Univer- sity with a Bachelor in Music Education degree with a con- centration in voice. She has served as choir director at Antioch Baptist Church in Blacksburg, S.C. for five years and has worked in the Kings Mountain District Schools as accompanist of the junior and senior high choral groups for the past three Hamrick, and state manage- ment by Cindy Lohr.
