ON DEAN’S LIST ~~ Wednesday, February 10, 1988-KINGS MOUNTAIN HERALD-Page 3B Poet To Read Selections March 1 At G-Webb Boiling Springs...Ron Rash of Pendleton, S.C., the 1986 winner of the Robert Park Poetry Prize awarded by the Academy of American Poets, will read selections from his poetry Monday, March 1, at Gardner-Webb College, Boil- ing Springs, N.C. The reading is open to the public and will begin at 7 p.m. in the college’s library seminar room. Rash will also read selec- tions from his short story, “The Night the New Jesus Fell to Earth in Cliffside, North Carolina,” a story that recently won him the General Electric Foundation Award for Younger Writers and was published in A Carolina Literary Companion. His poetry and fiction have been published in other publica- tions, including the Kansas Quarterly, Kennasaw Review, Southern Humanities Review, Southern Poetry Review, and Wisconsin Review. A 1976 graduate of Gardner-Webb, Rash is a candidate for the Ph.D. degree from the University of Georgia and an instructor at Pendleton Community Col- lege.
