Section B Page 11 Bells Wed Saturday Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Brent Bell, who were wed Saturday, are on a wedding trip to Hawaii and afterwards will reside on Route 5. ; Miss Carla Sue Gruzalski became Mr, Bell's brideina 7 p.m. candlelight wedding in Oak Grove Baptist Church. Rev. Ron A. Caulder of- ficiated at the double-ring ceremony. Mrs. Annette Webster was organist, Mrs. Marty Blanton was pianist and Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Ward were vocalists for the program of nuptial music. The bride, given in mar- riage by her parents, wore a formal wedding gown of white lace and satin featuring long Victorian sleeves, high collar with V neckline enhanced by a tulle insert and lace and sequinned bodice. The fitted, straight skirt was ‘enhanced by a cathedral train. Her hip- length veil of illusion was at- tached to a tiara of pearls and sequins and she carried a bouquet of roses and stephanotis. Mrs. Cheryl Fountain of Ormond Beach, Fla. was her sister’s matron of honor and bridesmaids were Miss Heather King of Ormond Beach, Fla., Miss Lisa Col- lins of Orlando, Fla. and Mrs. Shelia Bell of Kings Moun- tain, sister-in-law of the bridegroom. Lacey Fountain of Ormond Beach, Fla., niece of the bride, was flower girl. The matron of honor and flower girl wore long aqua formals and the bridesmaids wore floor length teal gowns and carried aqua, teal and white flowers. Carla Ramsey presided at the register and Jill and Bethany Jimison distributed rice bags. Groomsmen were Scott Thornburg, cousin of the bridegroom, Craig Bell, brother of the bridegroom and Barry Webster, all of Kings Mountain. The bride’s parents hosted the wedding reception in the church fellowship hall after the ceremony where the aqua, teal and white theme of the wedding was carried out in decorative details. Mrs. Darlene Jimison and Mrs. Linda Thornburg cut and served the wedding cake and Miss Susan McAllister served unch. Diy hs. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Carol McNary of Or- mond Beach, Fla. and Charles Gruzalski of Antioch, Il. She is a graduate of Mainland Senior High School, Daytona Beach, Fla., DeVr Institute of Technology wi an Associate degree in Elec- tronics. She is a computer service technician with MPSI, Charlotte. Mr. and Mrs. Giles C. Bell of Kings Mountain are parents of the bridegroom who is a graduate of Kings Mountain Senior High School and holds an Associate degree in electronics from DeVry Institute of Technology. He is employed as an electronics service technician with American Truetzchler of Charlotte. Oak Grove Bridal Shower Honors Carla Gruzalski Carla Gruzalski, bride- elect of Brent Bell, was honored recently with a miscellaneous bridal shower. Oak Grove Baptist Church Fellowship Building was the setting of the shower which was held on Tuesday, April 12th. Upon arrival, Carla was presented with a corsage of pink spring flowers. Approximately 50 guests called between the hours of STACY ALANE 7:30 p.m. and. 9 p.m. in- cluding special guests, Mrs. Giles Bell, mother of the bridegroom-elect, Mrs. Ger- trude Champion, maternal grandmother of the bridegroom-elect and Mrs. Shelia Bell, sister-in-law of the bridegroom-elect. Hostesses for the occasion were Mrs. Nadine Ramsey, Mrs. Beth Gilstrap, Mrs. Louise Wright, Mrs. Annette Engagement Announced-Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin A. Brock Jr. of Rockingham announce the engagement of their daughter, stacy Alane, to Kevin Wray Morehead, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse William Morehead also of Rockingham, formerly of Kings Mountain. Miss rock is a 1980 graduate of Richmond Senior High School. She received an Associate of Science degree, in Ap- plied Science, Radiology from Sandhills Community College. he is employed with Hamlet HMA Hospital as a Radiologic Technologist. Her fiance is a 1977 graduate of Kings Mountain High school and a 1982 graduate of the Life Underwriters Training Course. He is employed with Liberty Life Insurance Com- pan Their wedding is planned for Saturday, June 18th, at 5 p.m. in the First Presbyterian Church of Rockingham. Guests were asked to register as they arrived and greeted by Miss Carla Ramsey and Miss Laura Blanton. ; The refreshment table was Turn To Page 2-B lis, EUs Education Beth Hawkins, Timothy Mayer Charlotte Rites Married In Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Mark Maher are at home at Alexander’s Place in Charlotte after a wedding trip to Martha’s Vineyard on the Coast of New England, St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church of Charlotte was the setting April 9 for the 1 p.m. wedding of Lora Beth Hawkins and Timothy Mark Mabher. Rev. Eugene Land of Kings Mountain, pastor of the bride, and Father John Bradley of Tucson, Arizona, close friend of the Maher family, of- ficiated at the ceremony. Michael Horvath was altar boy. Kevin Maher, the bridegroom’s father, gave the liturgy from Genesis and Mrs. Barbara Hawkins, aunt of the bride, read the Bless- ings written by the bridegrooms’s aunts, Margaret and Kathrine Mc- Cullough of New York City. A Full Mass was celebrated. Robert Parrott was organist and Joseph Judge was vocalist for the program of wedding music. Judge, ac- companying himself on guitar, sang ‘““The Wedding Song’, ‘‘Ava Marie’ and “Entreat Me Not To Leave Thee.” The altar was surrounded with potted Easter lilies and candelabras holding lighted tapers which formed a pyramid decorated with greenery of ferns and magnolias. The altar was centered with a large cross and on either side were brass urns holding ferns, magnolias, white chrysan- themus and peach azaleas. The mothers, escorted by their sons, Craig Hawkins and Kevin M. Maher, assisted the bridal pair in lighting the Unity candle. The bride, given in mar- riage by her father, wore a formal gown by Demetrio’s for Ilissa of white tiffany satin and French imported Alencon lace designed with Sabrina neckline and bishop sleeves with wrist points. Both the sleeves and bodice were lavishly appliqued with pearls, sequins and handclip- ped motifs of lace. Soft gathers fell from the basque waist to form a full bias-cut skirt and cathedral length train. A pyramid of lace design was on the front skirt. The cathedral length train had cascades of open lace PAMELA MORRIS PATRICK ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCED-Dr. and Mrs. William Morris Patrick of Gastonia announce the engagement of their daughter, Pamela Morris Patrick, to Robert Glenn Cole, son of Mr. and Mrs. Datis Eugene Cole of Greenville, S.C. The bride-elect is a law clerk for The Hon. Clement J. Haynesworth in Greenville, S.C. The bridegroom-elect is an electrical engineer in Greenville, S.C. The wedding will take place Sept. 17 at 4 p.m. in Gastonia’s First Presbyterian Church. MRS. TIMOTHY MAHER Beth Hawkins down the train. Large open windows of lace motifs were scattered throughout the train. Her veil was a petite camelot cap appliqued with matching Alencon lace and accented with pearls and a sideflower design. Attached to the headpiece was a pouff at the back cap and a cathedrallength veil of rolled edge illusion. Part of her veil was worn over her face and her father lifted the veil dur- ing the ceremony. The bride carried her mother’s Bible which she and her sister, Sharon, carried on their wed- Jing days. The Bible was top- ped with white roses, stephanotis and a white Royal orchid. Mrs. Sharon Protheroe of Mt. Pleasant, was her sister’s matron of honor and bridesmaids were Joanne Maher of New York City and Kathleen Maher of Boston, Mass., sisters of the bridegroom; Peg Maher of Dallas, Texas, sister-in-law of the bridegroom and Ann Hawkins of Kings Mountain cousin of the bride. All the attendants wore ice peach tissue faille gowns by Bianchi featuring sweetheart necklines, dropped waistlines and capped sleeves. They wore matching fabric pumps and long white gloves and carried mixed bouquets of Gerber daisies, roses and tulips. Paul Amos Protheroe of Mount Pleasant, nephew of the bride, was ringbearer. The bridegroom’s father was best man. Ushers were Craig Hawkins of Kings Mountain, brother of the bride; A.R. (Chip) Hawkins of Gastonia, cousin of the bride; Kevin Maher of Dallas, Texas and Sean Maher of New York Ci- ty, brothers of the “bridegroom. Stacie Belt of Gastonia distributed wedding pro- grams and Alyson White of Charlotte presided at the register. Anna Ruth Pro- theroe was ricegirl. The mother of the bride chose a tea length formal of moonsilver gray sheer crepe. The long-sleeved V neckline blouson was banded at the hipline to a crystal pleated skirt. Crystal pleated fabric formed a diagonal front drape caught with a rhinestone ornament at the waist. She wore matching Turn To Page 2-B Mr. And Mrs. Robert Oates Note 50th Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Oates of Kings Mountain celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sat., March 5th, at a reception at Second Bap tist Church Fellowship Hall. Hosting the reception were their children, Rebecca Wiley of Charlotte, Robert F. Oates of Matthews and C. Denver Oates of Rock Hill, The couple traveled in a limousine to the reception where friends and relatives from all over North and South Carolina came to help celebrate their anniversary. Cards were received from many, as yell as congratula- tions from President Reagan and Nancy Reagan. Mrs. Oates is the former ‘Isabel Wilson of Kings Moun- tain.
