Seventy-five young ladies of high school graduation age from 22 cities and towns, including Kings Mountain, will make their debut June 11th at the annual Debutante Ball in Shelby. An orientation tea for debutantes and their mothers was held recently for the 78 young women who make their debut to society at the 43rd an- nual Debutante Ball June 11 in Malcolm E. Brown Civic Auditorium in Shelby. Shelby Junior Charity League sponsors all events. Cleveland Country Club in Shelby was set- ting for the tea. Mixed flowers Orientation Tea For Debutantes Held In Shelby decorated the ballroom. Iced tea punch was served from a silver service and silver appointments held party pickups including ham roll-ups, cheese straws, cream cheese and cucumber sandwiches, lemon squares, double chocolate brownies, and strawberries. The six Kings Mountain debutantes and their mothers were among special guests. Rehearsal Dinner Honors Couple Brent Bell and his fiancee Carla Gruzalski were honored Friday evening at a rehearsal dinner in Oak Grove Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Entertaining together were the bridegroom-to-be’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Giles Bell; his brother and sister-in-law, Craig and Sheila Bell and his aunts and Bride’s Parents Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hawkins of Kings Mountain hosted the wedding reception honoring their daughter, Beth, who married Tim Maher, on Sat., April 9. The Barley and Rye Restaurant in Charlotte was the setting for 150 guests who enjoyed fresh fruits and brunch foods from a buffet with an entree of boiled shrimp. uncles, Mr. and Mrs. Newell Thornburg and Mr. and Mrs. Mike Jimison. The newlyweds enjoyed the first dance and then the bride danced with her father, Bill Hawkins. Mrs. Diane Belt and Mrs. Barbara Hawkins, aunts of the bride, cut and served the all-white wedding cake which was topped with fresh flowers. He is a graduate of New Providence High School in New Pro- vidence, N. J. and received his B.S. in marketing from Caneseus College in Buffalo, N.Y.
