WILLIAM RAYMOND CRAWFORD (Celebrate 50th Anniversary) Mr. And Mrs. Crawford Note 50th Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. William Ray- mond Crawford celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary May 7 with a family party held on Mother’s Day. A three-tiered cake which was decorated with golden wedding bells and wedding rings was cut ind served with other party refreshments to family and friends. The party was hosted by the Crawfords’ children--Becky Lee, Brenda Henson, Danny Crawford and Ann Keller. The couple received con- gratulations from President and Mrs. Reagan. Children Enjoy Lunch With Reading Dinosaur Over 135 children enjoyed “Lunch with Readasaurus’ at the Dallas Branch Library on Tuesday, July 12, when the Sum- mer Reading dinosaur mascot made a special appearance in Dallas to greet his fans, who thronged to shake his paw and talk to their dinosaur friend. Readasaurus also handed out autographed pictures and drew children’s names for the prizes Patterson Reunion August 7 The descendents of Arthur Pat- terson will have their reunion at 1 p.m. Sunday, August 7, at Patter- son Grove Baptist Church in Kings Mountain. Dr. Bob E. Patterson, Pro- fessor of Religion at Baylor University, Waco, Texas is in charge of the program. Dr. Patterson will also preach at the 11 a.m. morning worship service at Central United Methodist Church on August 7. The public is invited to attend. he had brought along in his book bag. Other children’s activities of- fered at the Dallas Branch of the Gaston County Public Library this summer include Story Hours for preschool through age eight each Tuesday at 10:00 a.m., and Summer Movies each Wednes- day at 2:00 p.m. for children ages eight through twelve. Her medication is working and she has some good days and some bad days. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Florence. The Jimisons, Mike, Darlene, Jill, and Bethany visited with Mike’s father Sunday in Canton, N.C. While there they attended a reunion. Bill, Allison, and Will Carswell recently returned from a trip to the beach. They left Wednesday a week ago and returned Sunday. And by the way, we have just found out that Allison will be teaching next year -at Kings Mountain Junior High. Carl, Pat, and Ashley Cham- pion and Carl’s mother, Gertrude * Champion, returned Sunday from a trip to Florida. While there they visited Pat’s son and daughter-in-law, Kent and Marisa Rice. Reeturning home with them was Justin, Carl’s son who was visiting in Florida. Work is continuing on the road in front of Rush and Florence White’s house. The last word has it that the paving was to be * started on July 18. By publication Bible School - that their daughter, Grove JUNE BALLARD time, this should be completed. Both worship services last Sun- day at Oak Grove Baptist Church were conducted by Carroll Brackett. Carroll is a student at Southeastern Seminary at Wake Forest and a resident of this community. Congratulations to Terry and Kimberly Franks upon the birth of a son, William Lalon Franks, born July 10th at Charlotte Presbyterian Hospital. WOODBRIDGE NEWS Ronnie and Jerry Ghantt of Woodbridge are happy to report Rhonda Moore and her two children, Lewis 41% years old and Lindsey, 18 months old are visiting in their home for six weeks. While here, they visited relatives in Durham, Underway At David Baptist Church Bible School is in progress this week at David Baptist Church. Classes are being held from 9-11:30 a.m. There is a good crowd attending but there is still room for more. Teachers have worked hard on the programs and crafts. Refreshments are be- ing served each morning. Com- mencement exercixes will climax the week at 6:30 p.m. Sunday. A good crowd attended the monthly breakfast held at David Baptist Church Saturday morn- ing. Ham, bacon, hot biscuits, coffee and gravy were served. Rev. Brian Taule and his fami- ly have returned home from spending three days at White Lake on vacation. The trip was compliments of his church. He reports everything was wonder- ful. The trip was given in honor of his third anniversary at the church. Mrs. Ruth Gamble spent Sun- day night and Monday in Hickory with her sister, Mrs. Helen War- ren, who has been very sick. Mrs. Mae Matheny is now at Emory View Hospital where she takes therapy every day. She is very much improved. Mr. and Mrs. Noble Parker have returned from a few days visit with her granddaughter in Durham. Mrs. Barbara Hawkins of Mat- thews spent Saturday with her mother, Mrs. Ruth Gamble. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Fisher and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Neal have returned from a vacation cruise to Bermuda. Mrs. E.E. Babb had the misfortune of falling last week. She fractured her left arm. She is recuperating at the home of her daughter, Carolyn Howell of Stanley. She is doing fine. Invitations have been sent out this week to a baby christening for Jonathan Robert Swofford. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Swofford and will be christened in El Bethel United Methodist Church on July 30. The Swoffords, formerly of this com- munity, are living in Herndon, Va. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Howard Swofford of the El Bethel Community. A good crowd attended the local AARP meeting at the Kings Mountain Depot Tuesday after- noon. Ruth Gamble presided. Guest speaker was Debbie Tuttle from Gastonia Total Care. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Simmons Ordination Service Set Ordination services for Brother Fred Smith Jr. will be held July 24 at 6 p.m., at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Speaker will be the Rev. S.A. Raper, moderator of the Ebenezer Baptist Association and pastor of Mt. Calvary Bap- tist Church in Shelby. Rev. C.A. Feemster, pastor, invites the public. Class Reunion Set The Kings Mountain High School Class of 1948 will have its 40th year reunion Sat., Aug. 6 at the Kings Mountain Holiday Inn.
