We can’t obligate that money today.” If Kings Mountain decides to stay in the Crowder’s Creek pro- ject, the participating agencies must have their grant for ap- plication for EPA grants (totall- ing $14 million) submitted by August 1. The grants: would be approved or disapproved by September 30. Kings Mountain’s involvement in the project, which includes Gastonia, Gaston County and Bessemer City, is required for the project to get the state funds. Under current proposals, Gastonia would be the lead agen- cy. From Page 1-A ed by Kings Mountain and the State, the city must install a sludge handling press by June 1990. Thus, Wood said, if Kings Mountain commits $3 to $4 million to the Crowder’s Creek project, it still must committ the funds to upgrade the Pilot Creek facility.
