Page 12A-KINGS MOUNTAIN HERALD-Wednesday, November 16, 1988 | Religion | Dr. Charles Davenport, pastor of Long Creek Presbyterian Church, will deliver the sermon in the Kings Mountain Communi- ty Thanksgiving service Wed, Nov. 23, at East gold Wesleyan Church. Participating churches will present special anthems under the direction of Steve Ingle, music director at East Gold Wesleyan Church. A rehearsal of the combined choir will be held Sunday, Nov. 20, at 2:30 p.m. and Wednesday, Nov. 23, at 6:45 p.m. at East Gold Wesleyan Church. All churches in the community Davenport To Pre are invited to the traditional community-wide service spon- sored by the Kings Mountain Ministerial Association. JOINT SERVICE Love Valley and Victory Bap- tist Churches and Dixon Presbyterian Church will have a joint Thanksgiving service on Wed., Nov. 23 at Love Valley. Rev. Jeff Davis of Victory Bap- tist will bring the message and the Dixon choir, directed by Nan- cy Hughes, will present special music. The public is invited to attend. FILM SERIES The James Dobson film series “Focus on the Family” is being shown on Sundays at 6 p.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church. YOUTH MINISTER Charlie Owen of Charlotte, a sophomore at Gardner-Webb College, has been called as youth minister at Bethlehem Baptist Church. SING-IN Cleveland County’s first Handel's Messiah Sing-In will be held Sun., Nov. 20 at First Bap- tist Church in Shelby. Members from all churches in the county are invited to take part. There will be an optional sectional rehearsal on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at First Baptist in Shelby. Sunday, warm-up will be at 2:30 p.m., and the sing-in will begin at 3 p.m. There is no admission charge. REVIVAL SET Rev. Danny Castle, pastor of New Manna Baptist Church, of Marion, will lead special ser- vices Nov. 18-19 at 7 p.m. each evening at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 900 Grover Road. Special singing will be . featured. Pastor Wayne Reese invites ‘the community to worship in the series of services. GOSPEL SINGING Wallace Grove Baptist Church, Highway 18 North Shelby, will sponsor a benefit gospel singing DR. CHARLES DAVENPOR! Saturday beginning at 6:30 p.m. Featured groups will be Bob and Betty Goodson: of Kings Mountain, The Emmanuel Trio of Lincolnton and New Covenant Quartet of Hickory. Refreshments will be served and a love offering will be receiv- ed to be applied to a fund for a baptistry. The public is invited. THANKSGIVING DINNER Members of Second Baptist church will have a Thanksgiving dinner at the church Wednesday evening. Members are asked to bring covered dishes. CHRISTMAS BAZAAR A Christmas bazaar featuring crafts, needlework and Christmas decorations will be held by women of Grace United Methodist Church Saturday beginning at 7:30 a.m. at the church, 830 Church St. Baked goods and good, used clothes will also be offered for sale to the public.
