Held in a heated pavillion adja- cent to Discovery Place’s Church Street entrance, the festival is a display of Christmas trees, wreaths and gingerbread dis- plays designed and donated by Charlotte area professional designers. Sponsored in part by WSOC- FM, the Festival of Trees will be open to the public from Decem- ber 2-4. Hours will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Admission prices will be $3.00 for adults (ages 19-59); $2.00 for laa students (ages 6-18) and senior citizens (over 59); $1.00 for children (ages 3-5); and $1.50 for groups of 15 or more and Dis- covery Place members. Tree Applications Available The Gaston Soil and Water Conservation District is taking applications through December 31 for tree seedlings. Seedlings can be used for forest plantings, erosion control, windbreaks, screening, and aesthetics. Species available are White Pine, Black Walnut, Loblolly Pine, Sycamore, Red Cedar, and Yellow Poplar. The average cost of the tree seedlings is 10 cents to 35 cents each, and a minimum order of 25 seedlings of one species is re- quired. Orders for 1,000 seedlings will be at reduced rates, and orders over $25.00 will require prepayment.
