Baptist Theological Seminary an- nounces their graduation service Saturday morning, May 13 at 10:30 a.m., in Binkley School. Graduating will be Carroll Brackett from the Oak Grove Community. Carroll's path has been difficult and long up to this ~ point but his faith and determina- tion have been equal to the task. Surely God is pleased when men of Carrolls caliber enter into His full- time service. Congratulations Rev. Brackett, we knew you could do it! The Kings Revue, a singing group from Kings Mountain Senior High School, sang at the evening worship service at Oak Grove Baptist Church last Sunday night. Krissy Hine and Carla Ramsey are members of this group! Happy birthday to Carla Ramsey. Carla will celebrate her 17th birthday on May 10. Wedding bells will be ringing soon for Regina Ross and Timothy Ruppe. Richard and Nancy, Regina's parents, announce that the big day will be on Saturday, May 20, at Oak Grove Baptist Church. The wedding will be at 3 p.m., with a reception following in the church fellowship building. Congratulations, Regina and Timothy. Dixon News Oak Grove JUNE BALLARD CARROLL BRACKETT Jay and Carolyn Patterson spent this past weekend at Holden Beach, visiting their daughter, Gina. Melba Boyles' Sunday School class, along with Willard's Sunday School class from Oak Grove Baptist Church, journeyed to Linwood Fish Camp last week for a fantastic evening of food, fun and fellowship. All 36 went in the church bus with Sesko White driv- ing. Rosa Lee Bell and her four sis- ters enjoyed lunch Sunday at the Heritage Restaurant in Shelby. Those in attendance were Julia Williams, Helen Hamrick, Margaret Thornburg, and Rosa Lee Bell from Kings Mountain, along with Louise Hord from Hickory. Rosa Lee said that there was no particular reason for this event, just an outing. WOODBRIDGE NEWS: Good news to all of you catfish fanciers. Sam Houlditch, the Catfish King of Cleveland County, is selling his catfish to the public. Sam can be found at the Shelby Farmers Market this coming Friday and Saturday, busily selling his fish to an eager and waiting public. Would you believe — a shag party at Woodbridge. Yes, it happened last Saturday night at the clubhouse. According to June Houlditch, a large crowd attended, enjoyed a fabulous dinner, and shagged. (Well, they tried.) The Shelby Shag Club was there to give lessons. (Obviously, a patient group of instructors). Allan has been looking forward to his annual fish- ing trip with a group of friends who attended seminary with him. Rev. Lloyd Sanders will fill the pulpit at Dixon Presbyterian Church this Sunday. Rev. Sanders is well known and loved in this community, having served as pas- tor of Love Valley Baptist Church for a number of years. He is now associated with James Home in Shelby. Mrs. Letha Stewart hosted the women's circle of Dixon and Mrs. Nancy Hughes presided and gave the Bible Study. Senior citizens met last Tuesday evening and enjoyed a night out at Linwood Fish Camp. Leona Wells was the oldest member attending the reunion and Rev. Robbie Wells of Easley, S. C. came the longest distance. Lee Wells of California, brother of Harold Wells, came the furthest last year. He was unable to attend because of serious illness. We want to congratulate Lib Stewart on her N. C. first place writing award and let her know the Dixon Community i is proud of their native citizen. Dr. Allen Appointed Principal Dr. Susan Wilson Allen was named principal of Fair Grove Elementary School in Davidson County Schools on Monday, May 1, 1989. The Thomasville area school has approximately 1,000 students and a teaching staff of around 50 classroom teachers. Dr. Allen is currently serving as Director of Vocational Education in the Davidson County Schools. She will assume the principalship as of October 1, 1989.
