Coaching Clinic Set March 10 A baseball coaching clinic will be held at the Kings Mountain Community Center Sat., Mar, 10 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Dick Cooke, head coach at Belmont Abbey College, will be the director. While most kids Thursday, February 8, 1990 -THE KINGS MOUNTAIN HERALD-Page 3A Amber Gets Modeling Contract Amber Starr Kiser, five-year-old daughter of Fred and Carolyne Kiser of Oak Grove Community, won a one year modeling contract in Spartanburg, S. C. Jan. 27. She competed against 99 girls in day-long competitions of private interview, runway modeling and a 30-second commercial which was about her mother's business, The Uptown Pageant Designers in Shelby. Amber competed against 58 girls in her age group 4-14 and placed number one. There were 99 girls in all ages 4-adult and Amber was third out of 99. Amber is no stranger to the modeling field. She was a former baby model and holds over 50 titles in beauty, tal- ent, sportswear, photogenic, etc. in in her Kindergarten class at Bethware Elementary school are AMBER KISER JA I A playing outside, Amber fills most of her evenings with dance class, modeling class, and also competi- tive dance on rollerskates. Amber has held many local, state and national titles and such ~ local titles as Tiny Miss Kings Mountain 1988 and Wee Miss Shelby 1989. Amber's mother is thc executive director of the Miss Cleveland County scholarship pageant and al- ‘so owner/director of the Uptown ‘Shelby, The Carolina Cover Girl, and the Little Miss Cleveland County Pageant and says that Amber is "a sweet child who does- n't take anything too seriously and is a tomboy most of the time."
