The bride is also the daughter of the late J. V. reene. Brooks is the son of Mrs. Elaine Brooks of Kings Mountain and the late Thomas E. Brooks Jr. A 1980 graduate of Shelby Senior High School and 1983 graduate of Cleveland Community College with majors in Executive Secretary and Electronic Data Processing, the bride-to-be is employed as personnel secretary with Wilson Tree Company Inc. in Shelby. The bridegroom-to-be is a 1975 graduate of Crest Senior High School and a 1985 graduate of Cleveland Community College with major in Communications Technology. He served four years military service and is Vice President of B&D Enterprises Inc. in Kings Mountain. : The wedding will take place April 28 at Greene River Baptist Church in Polk County. KANDICE GERI GOLD SCOTT KENNEDY HENDRICKS Gold-Hendricks Mr. and Mrs. Dan E. Gold of Sharpsburg announce the engagement of their daughter, Kandice Geri, to Scott Kennedy Hendricks, son of Mr. and Mrs. Tommie T. Hendricks of Rocky Mount. : The bride-elect is a graduate of Southern Nash Senior High School where she was a cheerleader, active in Beta Club and on the softball team. She also attended Nash Community College as a nursing student and is employed at Nash General Hospital. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Griffin Gold of Shelby and Mrs. Nancy Sellers Smith of Kings Mountain and the late Yates A. Smith Jr. The bridegroom-to-be is a graduate of Northern Nash Senior High School and is employed by Tar River Cable TV. The wedding will be an event of June 9. Anniversary MR. AND MRS. WESLEY KISER Kisers Celebrate 50th Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Kiser celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, Jan. 27, at an open house hosted by their family from 2 until 4 p.m. at Second Baptist Church fellowship building. Entertaining were their sons and daughters-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Steven Kiser and Mr. and Mrs. Keith Kiser. Mrs. Elsie Dixon, sister-in- law of the honored pair, served as hostess. Mrs. Nell Falls cut the cake and Mrs. Margie Wright served punch. Granddaughters Cynthia Register, Heidi Bridges and Keitha Kiser regis- tered guests. Mrs, Hilda Kiser assisted in serving refreshments. The fellowship building was decorated in the golden anniversary theme. Gold bows and a lace tablecloth covered the refreshment table which held the tiered anniversary cake. Anniversary cards decorated the mantel and a conversation piece was a display of family pictures and memorabilia of the couple's 50 years of married life. Wesley and Pearl Dixon were married on Jan. 27, 1940. Legion Auxiliary Meets Tonight President Hilda Goforth will preside. American Legion Auxiliary Unit 155 will meet Thursday (tonight) at 7 p.m. at the American Legion Building. Margaret Ratterree will present the Americanism program. Co-hostesses are Nellie Harrison, Ruth Mitcham, Linda Dover and Jan Deaton. KIMBERLY MYRA HAWKINS Hawkins-Vaters Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Boyce Hawkins of Kings Mountain announce the engagement of their daughter, Kimberly Myra, to Leigh Mark Vaters, son of Mr. and Ms. David Lister of New Holland, Pennsylvania and Mr. and Mrs. Michael Vaters of Rochester Hills, Michigan. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Floyd Baity of Kings Mountain and the late Mr. and Mrs. P. A. Hawkins. Miss Hawkins graduated from Kings Mountain Senior High School in 1984 and Wingate College in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science in Communications and Public Relations. She is Assistant Director of Sylvan Learning Center in Savannah, Georgia. The bridegroom-elect is the grandson of Mr .and Mrs. Harry Canning of London, England and Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Vaters of Toronto, ‘Canada. Mr. Vaters is a native of London, England. He graduated from Athens High School in Troy, Michigan in 1983 and attended the University of South Carolina Coastal Carolina. He is an Account Executive at WSAV- TV Channel 3 in Savannah, Georgia. The wedding will take place March 31 at First Wesleyan Church in Kings Mountain.
