Franklin is a Bessemer City High School senior. 3 Local debutantes among the 66 from Western North Carolina making their debuts to society at the 45th annual Debutante Ball June 16 at Brown Auditorium in Shelby were honored recently at an orientation brunch at North Lake Country Club. Local debutantes are Elizabeth Adams McIntyre, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lee A. McIntyre; Ashley Rae Champion, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Champion; Mary LeeAnn Masters, daughter of Mrs. Betty Masters; Amy Elizabeth Turner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Loyd Wayne Turner; Julie McRae, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Bob McRae, all of Kings Mountain, and Kimberly Cheryl Franklin, daugh- ter of Mr. and Mrs. Randy Cleve Franklin of Bessemer City. HEATH FOSTER Mrs. John Gardner was Chair- man of the Orientation party hosted by the Shelby Junior Charity League and attended by all debu- tantes and their mothers. Assisting in serving refresh- ments were Mrs. Sam Strain, Mrs. John Crosland and Mrs. Lloyd Williams Jr. Receiving were League President Candy Arey, Ball co-chairmen Linda Goforth and Susan Mabry and deb secretary Carolyn Van Durrett. Hot chicken salad tarts, fruit and cheese, chocolate caramel and lemon squares, vegetable sand- wiches, and cranberry punch were served from a buffet dining table centered with an elegant arrange- ment of mixed spring flowers. Silver punch bowls were used on Heath Is Four Heath Foster, son of Danny and Georgia Foster of Grover, celebrat- cd his fourth birthday Feb. 28. He was honored at a birthday party at McDonald's in Gaffney, S. C. and family and friends attended. Grandparents are Frank and Paula Goforth of Gaffney, Richard and Susie Byers of Grover, and Morris and Martha Foster of Greenville, S.C. Great-grandpar- ents are Paul and Evelyn Owens of Kings Mountain. Heath has two brothers, Benjamin, 6, and Corbin, three months. Matthew Neal Cook Notes First Birthday MATTHEW NEAL COOK Matthew Neal Cook, son of Neal and Charlotte Smith Cook of Casar, celebrated his first birthday Saturday, April 8. A Mickey Mouse birthday cake was cut and served with party re- freshments carrying out the Mickey Mouse theme. Grandparents are Jerry and Juanita Smith of Kings Mountain and Larry and Carol Cook of Casar. Great-grandparents are Phil and Maggic Cabe of Kings Mountain and Garnet and Shirley Smith of Cherryville and J. D. and Vernette Smith and Joe and Elsie Smith, all . of Casar. Great-great grandmother is Mrs. Essie Lewallan of Kings Mountain. Local Debutantes Honored two round tables decorated in the spring motif. The Orientation brunch kicked off a round of social activities lead- ing up to the glamorous ball to be held on June 16 at 8 p.m. in Malcolm Brown School-Civic Auditorium in Shelby. The stage of Brown Auditorium will provide a lovely southern garden setting for the formal presentation. He was served dinner by Daniel Boone. Daniel Boone and his friends served Justin his birthday cake and sang "Happy Birthday" to’ him. Sunday, March 18, Justin and friends enjoyed a ghostbusters birthday party at his home. Justin is the son of Sandy and Dean Etters.
