STEPHINE DENISE OWENS JAMES DONALD JACKSON JR. Owens-Jackson The engagement of Miss Stephine Denise Owens of Dallas and James Donald Jackson Jr. of Stanley is announced by her mother, Mrs. Cathleen Bell of Grover. The bride-elect, also the daughter of the late Jonas Bell, is a graduate of Kings Mountain Senior High School and is employed by Provident Insurance Company. The bridegroom-to-be is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Jackson of Stanley and is a graduate of East Gaston Senior High School and served in the U. S Army. He is employed at Duke Power Company. The wedding will be an event of Oct. 6. a = TREY McCRAY Trey McCray Two Years Old Trey McCray, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carroll McCray II, celebrated his second birthday August 12 at his home in Lexington, S.C. The Wizard of Oz characters decorated the outside of the home complete with a yellow brick road. A Wizard of Oz cake was the cen- terpiece of the food table which in- cluded a variety of finger foods. Out of town guests included grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. Larry Allen of Kings Mountain and Mr. and Mrs. Carroll McCray Sr. of Monroe; great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Neal of Kings Mountain and Mrs. Floyd Allen of Shelby; Mrs. Allyson Cox of Monroe, Laura and Allen Allen, both of Kings Mountain. Trey's mother is the former Angel Allen. CALEB MOSS Jeffrey Caleb Moss Notes First Birthday Jeffrey Caleb Moss, son of Jeff and Teri Moss, was one year old on August 29. He celebrated with a Winnie the Pooh birthday party on Sunday. Friends and relatives at- tended. Caleb had a Winnie the Pooh cake and all the trimmings. Caleb is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Moss and Mr. and Mrs. James Lemons. He is the great- grandson of Mrs. Geneva Leming and nephew of Hazel Estes. Linen Shower July 29 Honors August Bride-Elect August bride-elect Kim Sisk was honored July 29 at a linen shower at the home of Trishia Buckner in Gastonia. Guests showered Miss Sisk with towels, sheets and linens for her home. Miss Sisk and Edwin Braunns were married Aug. 11 in Kings Mountain Baptist Church. Lail Reunion Set The 39th annual Peter and Polly Lail reunion will be held Sunday, September 9 at the Bethlehem Community Center. All family members and friends are invited to take a picnic lunch. pictures and other memorabilia. Dinner will be served at 1 p.m. A short report on the "Lagel-Lail Family in America" will be given by President Junie Davis. Family Shower Honors Bride-Elect Laurie Connor A family bridal shower for Laurie Connor of Wilkesboro, October bride-elect of Christopher Hartley, was held Aug. 18 at Macedonia Baptist Church fellow- ship hall. Mrs. Ruth Lynn of Kings Mountain, grandmother of the bride-to-be, was assisted by her daughters, Mrs. Barbara Blake of Lake Wylie and Mrs. Petie Bass of Wilmington in hosting 24 family members who came from Wilkesboro, Huntersville, Albermarle and Gaffney, S. C. and Kings Mountain to shower the bride-elect with miscellaneous household gifts. The pink and white theme of the wedding was carried out in decora- tive details. Party refreshments were served. Miss Connor was presented a corsage of pink and white daisies to pin to the shoulder of her party dress. She received with her moth- er, Mrs. Jane Connor; her grand- mothers, Mrs. Ruth Lynn and Mrs. Jim Connor, both of Kings Mountain; and the bridegroom-to- be's mother, Mrs. Anne Hartley of Wilkesboro and the bridegroom to- be's sister of Winston Salem. Barbecue Honors Couple Neil Morris and Nicole Gnandt, whose wedding will take place in September,were honored Saturday evening at a poolside barbecue at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Joe Lee on Garrison Drive. Co-hosting the party were Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Conner. The future bridegroom was showered with "honey do this" gifts from the 50 friends who at- tended. The hosts and hostesses present- ed the bridegroom-to-be a barbe- cue apron and a set of barbecue utensils. Guests enjoyed barbecue with all the trimmings around the pool and on the deck. Later, homemade ice cream and brownies were served for dessert. Attending as special guests were Mr. and Mrs. Steve Gnandt and Mr. and Mrs. Jrry Morris, parents of WILL AND BEN CARSWELL Will Carswell Three Years Old Will Carswell was three years old on August 15. He celebrated with a family party and a trip to Carowinds. Will is the son of Bill and Alison Carswell and grandson of Howard and Barbra Champion and Elijah and Jean Carswell, He has a brother, Ben.
