Marr Shaws Creek Baptist Church at Hendersonville was the setting Saturday for the wedding of Elizabeth Ann Thomas and Clifford James Marr. Rev. Ray Linville, former pastor of the church, officiated the ceremo- ny. ; Cindy Freeman was pianist, Nancy Demarest was organist and Annette Brown and Melissa Powell were vocalists for the program of nuptial music. Melissa Davis read the scripture. The bride was given marriage by her father. She wore a formal design of white bridal satin fashioned with a portrait neckline which draped the shoulders giving the effect of a shawl collar over short puff sleeves. The contoured bodice was overlaid in silk Venice lace embellished with pearls and iridescents. A large butterfly medallion centered the neckline with pearls, crystals and bugle bead dangles. Small flowers studded with pearls were displayed in intricate patterns. A full floor length skirt flowed from the dropped basque waist. Reembroidered Venice lace mo- tifs decorated the cathedral train. She carried a cascade bouquet of stephanotis, roses, lily of the valley and ivy accented with pink baby's breath. Patricia Bibb Kruse of Lynchburg, VA, cousin of the bride, was ma- tron of honor and Sandra Elaine Thomas of Knoxville, TN, sister of the bride, was maid of honor, Bridesmaids were Julie Elizabeth Hendrix of Fayetteville, Leigh Drake Ambrose of Centerville, VA, Allison Anne Scobee of Chapel Hill and Mindy Erin Marr of Windham, Maine, sister of the bridegroom. All the attendants wore tea-length gowns of fuschia with white Battenburg lace collars. They carried baskets of flowers in white, fuschia, purple, yellow and pink. Lindsay Erin Brooks and Joe Dan Spearman, cousins of the brid- e,were children attendants. The bridegroom's father was best man, See Thomas-Marr, 3-B MR. AND MRS. LARRY RICHARD CARROLL ore-Carroll Betty Sue Gore became the bride of Larry Richard Carroll in a 12 noon garden wedding August 29 at History Living Farm. Chris Gore gave his mother in marriage. Daughters of the couple, Wendy, Debbie and Jennifer were attendants and the bridegroom's sister, Fran C. Patterson, was matron of honor. William C. Carroll was his son's best man. Ushers were Jeff and David Carroll, brothers of the bridegroom. Ringbearer was Caleb Carroll. The wedding colors of pink and blue were beautifully featured throughout the grounds in decorative details. A private reception was held following the ceremony. Polk new CJ instructor Woman's Club plans Fall Festival for October 11 Plans arc shaping up for the an- nual fall festival of the Kings Mountain Woman's Club to be held October 21 from 11 a.m.-8 p.m. "A Southern Medley" will sct the theme for the event, which will fcature lunch and dinner, crafts, horticulture, antiques, and exhibits by local garden clubs. The festival will follow the for- mat of former fairs and will feature thc ham and turkey with all the trimmings at the noon hour and the addition of oyster casserole for the evening menu. Serving of lunch will begin at 11:30 a.m. and serv- ing of dinner will start at 5:30 p.m. Sandra Murphey and Doris McGinnis are co-chairmen of the festival. Margaret McGinnis is chairman of arts and crafts; Judy Harmon is chairman of food and craft-fair; Jessie Collins is ticket chairman; and Selena Trott and 'Opal’ planned The Greater Shelby Community Theatre, in conjunction with Cleveland Community College, kicks off its 1992-93 season with the presentation of "Everybody Loves Opal," October 22-24, 8 p.m., and October 25, 2:30 p.m., in the college auditorium. Referred to as "a prank in three acts" by playwright John Patrick, - the delightful early 60's style com- edy is directed by Mary Lopez and her assistants Joe Hullender and Barbara Taylor. The production features Thelma "Sis" Liles as Opal; Bob Fryer as Bradford Winter; Jerry Bumbaugh as Solomon Bozo; Shannon Hullender as Gloria Gulock, Rueben Angel Henriquez-Serrano as officer Rodriguez and Mike Rosenberg as the doctor. Tickets and season memberships will be available at the door. *Stuffed Animals «Balloons Glenda Coburn are co-chairmen of floral arrangements. Betty Gamble and Linda Dixon are chairmen of staging and Mary Weir and Bessic Bumgardner head up the cakes and pics committee.
