Unemployment rate increased in November The seasonally adjusted unem- : ployment rates rose from 6.2 to 7.3 “percent in Cleveland County in : November, according to Ann Q. Duncan, chairman of the Employment Commission. ; Unemployment rates rose in 95 counties, fell in four, and was un- changed in one, she said. Hullender turned in one of the highest marks of the season, bowl- ing a 147 line and 402 set to lead his team from behind after . Midgette won the first two games. : Midgette led his team with a 115 line and 331 set and Faye Mitchem - added a 111 line and 294 set. par AUSA RE The 1993 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. rehearsal schedule for the May 6 spring concert will be Thursdays, January 7, 14, 21 February 4, 11, 18, April 1, 8, 15, 22 29 and Monday, May 3 (dress rehearsal). If more than two rehearsals are missed, a member needs to discuss with the director anything that might have been missed. Dues for the spring season are $10 payable on January 7. They were Graham (21.5), Tyrrell (18.7), Brunswick (15.1), Swain (14.5), Hyde (12.3), Bladen (12.2) and Hertford (11.5). Orange County had the lowest rate, 2.9 percent. : Statewide, the unemployment rate in November was 5.9 percent. ESC analysts regard five percent as a near full-employment situation. "The increase in the unemploy- ment rates reflects an increase in the number of people who are en- tering the labor force," Duncan said. " DeRAND PEPPERS DeRand Peppers on Dean's List Gerald DeRand Peppers made the Dean's List at Western Carolina University for the fall of 1992. To be eligible for the Dean's List, a student must meet a 3.25 re- quirement and carry at least 12 hours. DeRand had a 3.667 with 15 hours credit. Each year WCU awards seven scholarships to students with out- standing academic grades. DeRand was one of the seven North Carolina students awarded a $1,000 scholastic scholarship. DeRand is the son of Jewel Hord Penner of Kings Mountain and Gerald D. Peppers of Kings Mountain. He is a 1992 graduate of Kings Mountain High School. He had to prove he was a good sport when he bet Redskin fans Jonie Blanton, Scott Ledford and Steve Rathbone that if the Skins beat the Vikings Saturday that he'd wear the burgundy colors of the Skins this week to work at Kings Mountain Post Office.
